we'll check with christina loren and mike inouye. let's start with chase cain live in martinez where an overnight water main break could mean icy conditions. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. i heard you guy sas that san frano is the only part of the area not under a freeze warning. i noticed because i live in san francisco and it does feel much warmer there than here in martinez where we are at the freezing mark. that is likely why public works officials say a water main busted last night. check out this video from a few hours ago. late yesterday evening, water was gushing down the avenue here near martinez boulevard. it took a couple hours to get that water turned off and the pipe patched up. that meant there was water in the road. they had to spread stand. further to the south people woke up yesterday in san jose with ice kels from the trees. that was a clear sign of how cold it was as records were broken across the bay area. s in san jose they had to de-ice planes before they took off. back to the north in wine country nap

meteorologist christina loren is here with a look at your holiday forecast.e be preparing for? >> for a california christmas this year, sam. looking absolutely gorgeous. yeah, we could be breaking out the umbrellas, not a wet christmas, not a white christmas, but a calli christma. it's going to be comfortable, still chilly out there. make sure you bundle out if you're going to head out and about this morning. by about lunchtime you can ditch a layer as temperatures are going to climb out of the 30s and 40s into the mid-60s. we're talking about the upper 60s in some cities. want to show you another shot of san jose now. as you can see here, it is a little hazy. happy to report it's not a spare the air day. that has been a big one after we hit that record 11 straight spare the air days earlier this month. just about a week ago. as we head throughout the next couple days, we are going to see that air quality suffer again. we want to put that on your radar. otherwise just perfection. you really can't ask for better conditions for your outdoor plans. 62 degrees in

i think many are concerned about that as we check in with meteorologist christina loren. any chance of raindrops soon? >> not in the near future. for the next ten days we're looking dry. good monday morning. we had a red flag morning for the higher elevations. that's not the case today but we have dry northerly winds, the winds are going to warm us up. temperatures in the 30s, 36 in the east bay, san francisco at 42, 29 degrees a cold start to the day in the north, and you might actually find a little bit of patchy frost. right now winds are calm but it's an area of low pressure that starts to move closer and closer, your winds continue to pick up so we're talking about another round of near record or record warmth. 66 degrees is the forecast today. that is the record. same for oakland slated to hit a record. santa rosa, napa, concord. very unusual to hit these high this is late in the season, i should say this early now that we kicked off winter. what i can tell you is temperatures are going to tumble for tomorrow. we'll bring back fog. what that means for your air quali

meteorologist christina loren has a look at the forecast. let's start out with marianne favro in san jose. no fires in fireplaces in the bay area today. >> reporter: that's right. or you could face big fines, laura. you know, the spare the air days are really tough on people who have respiratory problems especially those who have asthma, especially since we are now in our fifth consecutive spare the air day. you may remember before christmas we had 11 straight spare the air days in the bay area. that is the longest stretch in history. you also probably remember how murky the air was in san jose, so bad you couldn't even see the skyline. it's often worse in san jose because the polluted air gets trapped oyn our valley bowl. people with respiratory and elderly are most impacted. kids are sensitive to the air too. >> young children are so vulnerable. their lungs are fragile, delicate lungs and they are more prone to wheeze when they get respiratory infections, when they have the effect of pollution hitting their lungs. >> reporter: and she says

today, loren asks how do you stay true to your diet when there are so many temptations.there's lots of temptations out there, but it's all mental. i think of joel olstein who talks about temptation. he said daniel outclassed the others, even in captivity, he didn't eat what the king ate. he demanded to follow his own diet that was prescribed by religious law. that's what i do. i stand out by my demand for excellence. what i mean is, i know what's right for my body. i know what keeps me healthy. i've done all the trial and error, even when others try to shame me into being a sheep, i remind myself that i'm better than that. i've eaten the pasta, coffee, white bread diet and got sick and went vegan and felt weak. i educated myself as to who got the best results from their diet. i saw all kinds of doctors and listened to what they recommended. when i heard dr. timothy brantley and heard his story, i didn't follow the pressure of mediocre people and stayed the course. excellent for me is important and necessary. i demand it. so should you. if you have a question about diet,
