a massive chunk of highway 37 in los gatos is gone. it broke off on friday. and, kron four's philippe djegal shows us why neighbors don't expect the area to re-open for months... four news. highway 17 four news. highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains is now partially open after a massive mudslide blocked the roadway. one lane is open in each direction where the mudslide happened....just north of vine hill road. engineers are still trying to figure out the best way to clean up the mess left behind. and the clean-up work has proven to be very dangerous. on thursday, two contractors working for caltrans were run over by a dump-truck trying to clear the road. one of them died, the other was seriously injured. we have much more coverage on the storm damage online. for a full list of closed roads around the bay area, and updates on when they will reopen... just go to our website at kron-four-dot-com. the rain in the bay area is over for now... but people are still dealing with the cleanup this morning. highway 37 in marin county will remain closed for some time. kr
