this past weekend, the george lucas film about the airman was released. it has a g alreadyrossed 18 -- already grossed $18 million, the number two box office hit. when he was shopping around trying to find funding for this film, he was denied. hollywood told him that people would not come out to watch a movie with an all african- american cast. we proved hollywood wrong, people will come out and support and all african american history. why am i doing this now? black history is american history and deserves to be celebrated every single day of the year. on behalf of the board of supervisors, i am here to say thank you. if it weren't for your work, i would not be here. and so i have a proclamation naming today, january 24, 2011, the tuskegee airmen day.
