begins. >> rodriguez: maggie, we're told once those miners start being hoisted to the surface, the entire process could take two days to lift all 33 men up. >> rodriguez: seth, how soon will those rescued miners get to see their families? >> reporter: the ones who are healthy enough, maggie, will be able to see them right away before they are all flown off to a local hospital for observation. maggie? >> rodriguez: seth doane in chile, thank you, seth. rescuers plan to bring up the miners in a tiny capsule just a bit wider than the average man's shoulders. the engineers who designed it consulted with rescuers in pennsylvania because eight years ago they used a similar capsule to pull nine men to safety from the flooded quecreek mine. we sent national correspondent jeff glor to somerset, pennsylvania, to see how it works. >> reporter: this is the rescue capsule that was used at quecreek in 2002. it's still kept on site. it's slightly smaller than the one that will be used in chile. this one is just over nine feet tall and 600 pounds. the one in chile is ten feet tall and weighs more than 90

i'm maggie rodriguez. it's a busy news day so we'll get to the top story, after being trapped under ground longer than anyone in history the 33 miners in chile are a couple days from seeing the sun. seth done is at the mine to bring us up to date. good morning, seth. >> reporter: good morning, maggie. it was an exciting and emotional weekend as rescue workers punched through to the area where the men are trapped. this rescue operation one of the most complex ever attempted, is far from over. deep under ground, the miners' schedule is starting to change. as they prepare to see sunlight for the first time in more than 68 days. they now started a special diet which includes a high calorie, chocolate drink to boost nutrition. and they are also on a regimen of aspirin to prevent blood clots while they are lifted to the surface. watching out there are even said to be volunteering to go up last. on the roughly 20-minute, 2,000-foot joran the rescue capsule could spin so to try to keep them from getting dizzy or s
