joining me now are goldie taylor and nia-malika henderson.say the democrats have a culture of hatred. is he just firing up the republican base? >> i think that's right. you saw mitt romney. when he ran, this was part of his sort of argument as well on a talking point he had being that president obama was one of the most divisive presidents even. marco rubio said the same thing. nobody ever believed that. when you look at that growth and opportunity project, the autopsy of the republican party that reince priebus released after the campaign, it showed that people who were polled thought it was republicans who were too divisive. so you had this rebranding which in some ways has happened i think for a segment of the party. for another segment of the party, they very much rejected that. it might be the cruz wing. for folks like dean young, he's very much a different sort of strain of the republican party. i think the question now is where is that ceiling for the strain of the republican party. where -- it's sort of the tea party in some ways, but

joining me now, nia malika henderson, host of post tv's on background. and perry bacon, political editor of "the grio." there's a lot of angst about is this the great demise of the presidency of barack obama. i'm intentionally being very sarcastic because i feel like it's a little bit overdramatized. how serious do you -- in your estimation is this for the president? >> look, if the election were today for congress, i think the democrats would suffer from some of these challenges regarding the website, regarding the rollout of obama care. the important thing to remember is, the election is not today. the story will change by november 2014. right now there are about 500,000 people who got health insurance through the health care law if you add the medicaid and exchange numbers in. by next year that number will be in the millions. by next year i'm sure -- or i think i'm sure that the website will be working. >> watch out. >> or working better than it is now. that'll make the politics of this law much different. right now there are democrats that don't have

joining me now, malika henderson.itable that liz cheney trying to run to the right of mike enzi in wyoming, would run straight into this conflict with her sister over marriage equality. >> that's right. there is not a lot of room left to the right of mike. here is a guy who has a plus ratings from all of the big conservative groups. a lot of his allies out there is that they have run these ads featuring liz cheney on msnbc, essentially coming out in support of these benefits. listen, i am so against same sex marriage that i don't even agree with my own sister's choice. one thing that is unique is that if you look at the chatter that we have seen over this, it isn't really playing in wyoming. i was looking at the top news sites and this story barely made the top ten list and a lot of the stories out there were three or four sentences. i don't think with the wyoming voters who know mike enzi very well that that is going to make a difference in this race where you already see that liz is far ,far behind. >> mary cheney h

now let me bring in malika henderson and jimmy williams. let's start with you and chris christie here, you heard him say there are people who say i'm a democrat, voting for you. richard liu spoke with a african-american man. we know that's pack of the shaq attack, if you will. but the reality is, chris christie when you look at his credentials and what he represents, being against same-sex marriage and the other things that might be a turnoff for democrats, seems to not stand in his way at least this time. we don't know what will happen in a national election. >> that's right. if you look at all of those things, be it same-sex marriage or even obama care, he isn't that supportive yet, at the same time he's expanding medicaid in his state -- >> and taxes. >> and he hasn't put up much of a fuss around same-sex marriage. so in that way, i think people sort of excuse where he falls on some of these issues because he has cut such a wide swath in that state, particularly around sandy. it was very much the perfect political storm for him because h

. >> nia malika henderson, thank you so much. >> good news for undocumented immigrants coming out ofow. undocumented immigrants in illinois can begin the process to receive a state driver's license. illinois is now one of the 11 states plus the district of columbia that have passed laws allowing undocumented immigrants to get a license. as the larger debate over immigration reform rages. it was stalled in the house after a measure passed the senate back in june. joining me now, nbc latino contributor, raul reyes, good to see you. >> hey there. >> the pugh research center poll shows last week the president's approval when it comes to immigration policy 60% disapprove. he's seen a drop here. >> right. >> despite the fact it's being held up in the house, people look at what he promised in his goal for immigration reform? >> the reality is as we look ahead, look at his legacy, no matter what he has tried to do or best efforts or speeches, he is on track for the record deportations and because of these crises that have come up from the irs to the debt ceiling crisis, there has always been

joining me now live, nia malika-henderson with "the washington post." and wendall potter. first, wendall, how does this plan work here? will the insurance companies go along with it? what requires them to do so? >> i think many of them will. the insurance industry issued a statement i saw a little while ago that they don't like this. they're afraid it could destabilize the new insurance marketplace. there is that risk. i think that we'll see that insurance companies will start complying. insurance commissioners will have a big role in this to determine what will actually be able to be offered again next year. but i think we'll start seeing once the website is fixed that insurance companies will be advertising for people, even those who have gotten these letters. i can see an advertisement. if you've gotten the letter cancelling your policy, check out what is available to you on the exchanges. i think it may be a good thing. >> but some of the criticism -- and to your point, you've pointed it out, we're hearing it from both sides, that this fix, and even fixes proposed by m

let me bring in our company, josh barrow, politics editor for the business insider and neeya malika henderson. good morning to both of you. >> good morning. >> so we know the senate is not back in until december 9th and we know if new sanctions are imposed on iran it could torpedo this deal. how's this going to play out? >> chuck schumer has come out and spoken very pointedly about this saying that he wants to see new sanctions, that the senate will vote. they have got about eight legislative days come tess and so you have heard them seemingly be poised to scuttle this deal that the president was able to broker with kerry and the p-5 plus 1 countries. i think you've also heard from the arab world, places like saudi arabia haven't commented at all and that is certainly troubling too as well for this deal and for this president. of course he had those conversations with netanyahu who has called this an historic mistake so you could have a situation where you have democrats, typically allies of this president on foreign policy and republicans united in trying to push for some new sanctions. >> i
