manu raju has more. >> reporter: good morning. the fbi director expected to get a grill today in the house oversight committee where republicans believe he made the wrong decision and not referring this case to the justice department although director comey had strong words about hillary clinton believing she handled the classified information carelessly. they believe she was given preferential treatment. expect to hear the push about why comey made the decision. comey believes he has a good story to tell. he believes they made a good decision with the thorough investigation and expect him to layout the reasons why. this is part of the republican effort to keep this issue alive. speaker paul ryan believes that hillary clinton should be denied classified briefings all together. she should have security clearance revoked and she should release all of the transcripts in talking with the fbi to see if she was speaking truthfully to the investigators. this is really the beginning of the very aggressive effort to keep this issue alive.

let's bring in manu raju. what have you learned? >> yes, that's right, guys.'re learning this hack could potentially be much broader than initially thought. just this morning, the democratic national campaign committee has confirmed they have been the subject of a cyberattack. they're actually saying that it is similar to the dnc hack that prompted all that turmoil on the eve of the convention this week. i'll read you part of the statement from the spokeswoman for the dccc. it said we immediately took action and engaged with a leading forensics investigator to assist us in addressing the incident. the investigation is ongoing. we'll been advised by investigators that this is similar to recent incidents including the dnc breach. if this plays out in the same way the dnc leak played out, it could provoke a bunch of similar revelations that could be possibly embarrassing to democrats and the eve of the elections and what we know now is the democratic senatorial campaign committee, the political arm for the senate democrats, told us they have not been the subject

manu raju is on the phone with new details. what can you tell us, manu? >> yes, that's right.mocratic national committee was hacked by allegedly from russian hackers which act, as thousands and thousands of dnc e-mails. you'll recall those emays were later revealed by wikileaks. caused major turmoil within the democratic party. so much so that debbie wasserman schultz the chairwoman of the dnc had to resign and just as the democratic convention was starting this week. now we have learned that the democratic congressional campaign committee which is our political arm for house democrats also has been the subject of a hack. now, what the campaign -- just put out a statement saying they've been advised by investigators this is similar to the incident at the dnc. now, we don't exactly have -- we don't have a lot of details about what kind of record that these hackers have accessed, but it raises the possibility that alleged russian hackers may have gotten much, much broader swath of records then we originally thought. whether these are released somehow, they're leaked, it could ha
