. >> reporter: good morning to you, marcus. you might not know this but san francisco and boston are two major cities that allow their police officers to use the less lethal option of tasers. recently, the san francisco police officers association is airing radio ads pushing for the use of tasers. last night, police chief william scott wrote an opinion editorial backing tasers. he writes not having the option of using a taser is prolonged, hands on physical force by police officers and higher probability of resistance by a suspect. the police commission is expected to talk about and vote on whether they will be allowed to carry tasers. a focus on de-escalation because of protests surrounding the 2015 death of mario woods, a man armed with a knife in the bay view, shot and killed by sfpd officers. they are releasing a report on use of force. force, in their definition is officers pointing their weapon to physically controlling suspects. our newsroom reviewed the data and found overall use of force fell by 32% from july to septem
