this is just found out new information. >> reporter: exactly, laura and marcus. just spoke with a sheriff's deputy here, although he did not help out with cases way back then, he knows there were so many victims in this area and this case is definitely on their minds this morning. the victim's family says they are relieved that investigators say that the east area rapist is finally behind bars. 72-year-old father and former police officer joseph james deangelo was artsed at his citrus heights home tuesday on eight counts of murder. overall investigators say they believe he's responsible for more than a dozen murders and at least 45 rapes and 100 burglaries throughout california since the 1970s. deangelo's family and neighbors will be closely watching developments in this case. >> i'm not trying to say he's guilty, not trying to say he's innocent. i'm trying to say that let's see how it goes. let's go through the process -- >> he once left a death threat on our answering machine message and said if we didn't shut the dog up he would deliver a load of death. >> rep
