i am marcus washington. >> i am kris sanchez. what a way to start the day. we will get to kari in just a second, but first mike inouye is looking at traffic. >> overall, that's great, and marcus told the whole story there, danville boulevard is open, apparently, but we are looking at hemme, hem me avenue, there are crews in the area, and sometimes they have to close off of a parameter, and bob redell is checking that out and is on scene. if you plan on take danville boulevard south past hemme, i don't know if you can do that now. we will get more details as bob redell arrives on scene. the freeways throughout the area is moving good appeared the scene. >>> we're waking up to moderate air quality, more of the haze and smoke come into the bay area, and that may affect your outdoor plans this weekend. we're going to see that as you get ready to head out the door and maybe it affects your commute. we'll see in the tri-valley our temperatures in the mid-50s, and a nice warm-up with the upper 70s late morning to the afternoon. we will warm up quickly throughout the

i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. you're likely watching us on air, but we're also online at nbcbayarea.com. we have a lot going on this morning. first we want to start with meteorologist kari hall tracking some strong winds in the bay area. >> this wind event won't be as widespread as the start of the week. solano county we're watching closely. we're also see breezy and dry conditions for our north bay mountains and the central valley over towards the sacramento valley where we will see some gusty winds. we're looking at wind speeds picking up late morning and early afternoon. wind speeds about 35 to 45 miles an hour. most of the valleys are looking at wind speeds about 10 to 15. >>> new warning from the san francisco police officers union with the new vaccine mandate in effect. the union says some calls may have to go unanswered. kris sanchez has a closer look at the possible impact on public safety. >> reporter: so overwhelmingly san francisco city workers are vaccinated, 95% of them are already vaccinated, but the

i'm marcus washington. >> i'm laura garcia. let's check in with meteorologist kari hall tracking a little bit of a cooldown to the start of our day. >> yes. there is a lot of changes headed our way as we're waking up this morning. don't be surprised if you have to turn on the windshield wipers a bit. we have this cold front sweeping through bringing in a lot of clouds and moisture. we're starting out with a cool morning. this is where we're headed, up to 70 degrees. it will be clearing out today and we'll see temperatures in spots like martinez in the 60s. i'll have more coming up in a few minutes. >>> it could happen as soon as today. bay area officials are expected to announce criteria for ending mask mandates. most of the bay area still requires masks indoors with the exception of solano county, who never issued a mask mandate. this sounds like pretty exciting news for a lot of people out there. >> reporter: for months that mask has become a part of you. when you left the house, the mask typically left the house with you. bu
