i'm marcus washington. >> the cheerleader in me just came out. i'm laura garcia. we're going to start with a look at the friday forecast. does it matter, rain or shine? >> we're cheering for a nice weekend and a lot of sunshine, too. warmer temperatures coming in. as we get started, we do have still that dense fog around novato, parts of marin county and parts of the north bay. but elsewhere, it is all clear as you're driving to work. our temperatures are in the low 40s right now in dublin, and looking at oakland it is 46 degrees, san francisco at 47, about the same in san jose. and we're headed for the upper 60s in the south bay this afternoon and in santa rosa. fairfield reaching 68 degrees and up to 64 in san mateo, even warmer tomorrow. take a look at these numbers. i don't know how long it's been since we've had 70s, but i'm pretty sure it will be welcomed as we enjoy the welcome. we're going to talk more about when rain comes back. >>> cinthia, you have good news for niles canyon. >> we haven't had the rain the last couple of days and i think this did help o

i am marcus washington. >>> i am laura garcia. let's get to the breaking news. a massive outage hit the bay area last night as well as around the country. >> bob is live in livermore. bob, i understand you are back in service. >> reporter: i am, and i live in livermore. overnight around 1:15 i didn't have service on my iphone 14, but around 3:00 this morning, it did come back. a similar situation for some of our colleagues in san josÉ. but i am in touch with my father who lives in florida. he has an iphone 15, at&t, and he says his service is still out. we just received a statement from at&t, and they say some of our customers are experiencing wireless service interruptions this morning. we are working urgently to restore service to them. according to down detector.com, it's a website that tracks outages. it recorded more than 71,000 outages among at&t customers. the outages happened in the bay area, los angeles, houston, miami, and by the way, my brother that lives north of miami, he has not experienced any outages. i got my service back, and livermore colleagu

. >>> i am marcus washington. we will get a look at the forecast in just a moment, but first we want to start with mike inouye and the traffic. >> two major accidents and two alerts. we have a deadly crash reported on the bay bridge. you are looking at this from our camera in san francisco. the lower deck is down to just one lane as best we can tell from the live look. chp reported two lanes were opened, though. east bay out of san francisco, on the lower deck before you get to treasure island, you are restricted to just one lane. from about fremont street over towards just about midway along the incline there. doesn't look like a lot but it will be a big problem as there are a number of vehicles are involved, and it's a deadly crash and the coroner has been called and could be another hour before they clear it. bart is always a great option, and so is the san mateo bridge on 82. the second crash is southbound 880 approaching 92, and that will be jammed up because past 92 will be where that second accident is. the

. >> i'm marcus washington. we'll get a look at the commute in just a bit with mike. let's start with the forecast. the winter weather advisory heading your way. >> rain in the bay area, when they get the snow, we're getting the rain. that comes in later tonight, into the day tomorrow. so we do have much of today to get ready for that rain that will be impacting us for much of the weekend. here is a look at our current temperatures right now as you head out the door. it's in the mid-40s for walnut creek and san francisco it's 49 degrees, and 50 in oakland and in san jose. our high temperature this afternoon headed for the upper 60s in san jose, so even though we are going to have a lot of clouds, it's still going to be very mild and headed for the mid-60s for dublin, with some low to mid-60s for much of the north bay. we're going to talk about arrival of the storm system and what to expect as it moves in with another one behind that coming up in the full microclimate forecast. >>> mike, you were checking on a roadway hazard in san jose. >> reported at 101/280. i've be

marcus washington is off. your morning commute is coming up in a moment and it is likely going to be difficult. we're going to start with a look at that forecast. meteorologist kari hall, this was a whopper of a storm. >> it was. >> i don't know what else to say. >> it was, because of the wind, mainly. that was the main thing that brought down trees and that rain was coming in sideways. we are seeing some of the heavy rain with that atmospheric river pushing across southern california. we're left with still a lot of energy in the atmosphere, and the chance that we could see some thunderstorms. we are still getting lightning strikes just to our south and off the coast, but we will have that chance as we go throughout today. take a look at the satellite radar, still a lot of rain being pulled in with this system, so we will continue with that chance of rain, at least into the next couple of hours. and then looking at the radar, our stormranger is showing the heaviest rain is now moving out of san francisco, with

i'm marcus washington. >> i'm laura garcia. mike and kari are very busy this morning with wet conditions out there. first, developing now across the bay area, what we are covering are tens of thousands that are continuing to wake up another morning without power. pg&e numbers this morning count about 30,000 bay area customers still in the dark. in santa clara and san mateo counties, it's right about 6,000, in sonoma about 11,000 people without power, and in contra costa county nearly fully back online, now about 3,000 outages in marin and 600 in solano. a tough few days for a lot of people in the bay area. and very cold out there. >> yeah, the temperatures have been dropping. we have another cold front that's coming in. ahead of that we're seeing some rain. we're going to see the rain chances picking up over the next few hours, already starting to see the rain on the north bay, falling from santa rosa, northern marin county and northward, where we are seeing some light showers for now. it will get heavier as we go through the m

. >> i'm marcus washington.oing to get a check of the commute because traffic will be slow this morning. but let's talk about that forecast. kari, some places you're going to see heavy rain, some places you won't. coming in, i got three different types of cells. >> and it's changing every few minutes. so you're driving, it's barely dry and then it starts raining and then it pours and stops. that's the kind of conditions we'll see throughout the day as we're still getting a lot of this moisture coming in as we get a look at the radar this morning. so this is the kind of activity that will stick around for a while, and we're tracking it with stormranger that gives us the best amount of detail and exactly where it's raining and where it's not because it is changing every few minutes. we are seeing rain just north of morgan hill, on 101 the roads are very wet. there's still a lot of puddles left over. the peninsula, it is mostly dry for now but a next wave of rain is coming into the coastal areas and will be with us

. >> i'm marcus washington. we'll get a look at the weather and traffic in just a moment. developing now for you, this is an all-out effort to restore power across the bay area. this is following sunday's powerful storm. and you can see all the outages on this live map from pg&e. a short time ago we did get an update. there are now 65,000 customers without power now, this is down about 30,000 from last night. it includes more than 18,000 in santa clara county, 14,000 on the peninsula, and about 19,000 in sonoma county. contra costa county almost fully restored, while marin and solano county are under 5,000. >> it's been a tough few days for a lot of people without power there. and it could be cold in your house as well. >>> the temperatures are dropping and we have colder temperatures on the way. at least for most of us the rain is tapering off. there's still some lingering light showers moving through. as you're heading out the door and maybe still dealing with cleanup today, trying to pick up some of those branches and some of the property damage that you had from over t

marcus washington is here to tell us about a 49ers super fan. >> we are now five days away from the super bowl and a number of 49ers fans are traveling to las vegas to try to go to this place for sunday's big game, allegiant stadium. that includes mark gaston from san jose. he is one of the many fans out there right there on the right of your screen. take a look at pictures from social media. you can see he is a diehard fan. he is a 49ers faithful since the cast between joe montana and a y clark back in 1982. he and his wife are going to meet up with other fans over the weekend in sin city to take in super bowl atmosphere and support the team. >> we have a passion that runs so deep. i think part of that is tied to our history, even a lot of the younger faithful have never seen a 49ers win a super bowl. anybody after 1995 have never seen that. some kind of remember it. it is a passion, the connection to the organization, to the team, to the players, to the history of what we have. >> the headgear, it's passion. mark and his wife don't have tickets, but he says they are willing to pay $3000
