now here's our marcus washington with more. well, it seems to be the end of the line almost here for a popular south bay roller skating rink. but the owner, still hopeful of charting a new path. san jose's aloha fun center started six years ago as a pop up at eastridge mall. it was only supposed to stick around for a couple of months, but it proved to be so successful that the owner managed to extend her lease on a yearly basis. until now. she says that a new closure date is set for march 23rd. i grew up roller skating at the original aloha roller palace that was on snell and blossom hill, and it was such an immense part of my upbringing. it was where i spent every weekend. i was, you know, it was my social circle. it was where i had all my friends. it's, you know, i competed and i and i played roller derby. i learned how to fall and get back up. and this is kind of like falling and getting back up. we are losing our space, but we will get back up. now, liz says she is still looking for a possible new location, but she calls he

on this monday i'm marcus washington and i'm laura garcia. so let's start out with a look a at that fecast. meteorologist kari hall is tracking this incoming rain we've seen over the weekend. this atmospheric river just waving up and down the coast and at times giving us a break from the activity. so now we are going to see increasing rain coming in later on today and into early tomorrow. and at that time, the wind will pick up anywhere from 15 to 30mph, with some higher gusts and some of the hills and mountains, and then colder temperatures ahead, with snow levels dropping toward the end of the week. so this is where the storm system is now, once again giving the bay area a break. and as we get a closer look, there's some spotty light showers here and there, but definitely nothing like what we saw over the weekend in parts of the north bay. as stormranger tracks this activity, we are going to see a lot more green later on today, so we'll talk about the impacts of that and how much rain you can expect coming up in the full microclimate foreca

i'm marcus washington, and i'm laura garcia. we begin with our top story this morning, which is the atmospheric river taking aim at the bay area from the north bay to the south bay. the entire region will get soaked over the next 24 hours. downpours already causing some dangerous driving conditions. this is video taken in windsor and sonoma county. this is where chp is saying that the driver of this car spun out, crashing into a power pole last night. fortunately, there no one was hurt. meteorologist kari hall. timing out just how long this rain is going to last. pretty much the whole commute. yeah. it looks like throughout the day, we are going to see waves of rain coming in, along with some gusty winds. and as we get more energy into the afternoon, there is the possibility that we could see some thunderstorms here and there. here's a look at all the rain that's covering the bay area. we know that it is much needed, but you do have to allow some extra time to get to work and driving around the bay area. maybe a little bit more

i'm in for marcus washington. we begin with that microclimate weather alert because as we mentioned, there is more rain rolling in this morning, even as the soil in some neighborhoods is completely saturated already. tuesday's storm triggered a mudslide which slammed into one north bay home that is now red tagged. this is in santa rosa's deer trail neighborhood, which is under evacuation warnings now. we spoke with the owner of that red tagged home, and he said his wife was at home when she called him at work to say she was stuck. it was difficult to understand what she was saying and she was obviously panicking. she didn't know if she could get out and but. it was just so scary. i mean, you can hear how scary in his voice, he says. first responders rescued both his wife and his daughter. they are both okay, but the home is going to have to be torn down and listen to this. he said this home is a rebuild from the home that they lost in the 2017 fire storm. meteorologist kari hall is keeping tabs on the latest condi

and i'm marcus washington. let's get you caught up.'re not off, you're going to head out the door. and we want to see how it is weather wise out there. meteorologist kari hall has a look at that. not bad at all. not bad. it was a nice weekend. and as you're heading out this morning, it is all clear for the most part, with the exception of some fog kind of moving around parts of the tri-valley in the north bay. and we're seeing the clouds linger over the south bay. but as we go into late morning, into the afternoon, it becomes mostly sunny. the only thing i'm watching is a chance of some midweek showers and then a warm up as we head into the weekend. and that is where we're starting this morning with some of those numbers you're seeing on the screen, 42 in sonoma and it is 49 in oakland. it's 48 in san jose and some low 40s in the tri-valley. we'll all pretty much make it into the upper 50s and low 60s for our afternoon high. so we'll talk about what to expect with the few changes as we go through the middle of the week in our forecast,

and i'm marcus washington. what first, as this most recent storm is moving across the bay area, our storm ranger is sitting atop san bruno mountain scanning the skies. this is the bay area's only mobile doppler radar, helping bring you the most accurate forecast. this storm comes following last week's storm, which caused damage in the north bay. much of that area is still saturated this morning. let's head over to meteorologist kari hall this morning. she's monitoring the rain, and we've got a flood advisory. yes. so they issued the flood advisory out way ahead of the storm. and so that means that we're watching out for that possibility of street flooding, as well as rising creeks and streams. and then we can see this large storm system as it is moving directly into the bay area. this is the center of low pressure that's driving all of this rain with this atmospheric river into our area. and then once we get to this part of the storm that's directly over us, then it becomes more scattered, but also with more en

and i'm marcus washington.ok at that forecast for you because it is a cold start for you. meteorologist kari hall has been tracking what we can expect out there. stormranger hard at work. yeah, so it's cold and clear for now, but we've got stormranger on san bruno mountain ready to pick up on this next storm that's going to be coming in and having a big impact on the bay area. so we do have a new atmospheric river headed our way with a little bit of rain ahead of that. moving in le tonight into early tomorrow, but tomorrow into friday we'll see the heaviest rainfall coming in, and there will be the elevated landslide threat that will be with us as we watch those creeks and streams rise fairly quickly. there will also be some heavy sierra snow in the forecast. our hour by hour outlook does show that rain coming in very quickl, overnight, not having a big impact. but as that next storm system comes in, the rain will be heavy and widespread starting late tomorrow night and continuing in waves into thursday morning

and i'm marcus washington. let's get a look at that forecast right now.t kari hall tracking what we can expect out there. nice and clear. it looks like right now in san jose, we're taking a break from the rain for the most part over the weekend. it was the north bay that measured the highest amount of rainfall, and we are the rest of the bay area laterr on this evening. it starts for the north bay this afternoon and continues through early tomorrow. and at that time that we get those heavier downpours, we could see some gusty winds up to 45mph and colder temperatures ahead as we go toward the end of the week, but we can see the atmospheric river has lifted to the north and giving the bay area a break from the heavier rain storm. ranger shows some spotty light showers that we are seeing this morning as you're heading out, but we will see this activity picking up and becoming more widespread later on tonight, so i'll have more details on that. mike, you're giving us a look at the south bay. yeah, we'll go over here. kari to north 101. the earlier incidents,

and i'm marcus washington.ing parts of the bay area, and it's causing some traffic trouble in the north bay. a rockslide and downed tree blocking two right lanes of highway 101. so it's hard to see in this video here, but we are there at the scene. this is all happening around seven last night. this is near rodeo avenue and on that ramp and that live scene there, originally the three right lanes were closed, but one reopened around 530 this morning. of course, we will call on chp overnight and our mike inouye of course, monitoring that traffic for us. and mike, certainly going to be tough for a lot of folks who are used to going through that area daily. yeah, they have to use caution because of the equipment that's out there. marcus. yes. safety for the workers as well as for the drivers. let's look over here. we're talking about southbound 101. speeds are starting to dip a tad bit. half the freeway is open. two lanes are closed, two lanes are open. bob redell is up there as well. and he notified us as soon as
