this comes after the december 15 death of mario woods. you might recall, he was a man armed with a knife in the bayview and shot and killed by sf police officers. the department is releasing a report on the use of force. force, their definition includes officers pointing their weapons to physically controlling the suspect. our news room reviewed the data and found overall use of force fell by 32% from july to september of this year, compared to the same time last year. take a look at the tv screen and put numbers up there. according to the report, african-american males are, by far, the largest group force was used against of the more than 600 cases, they made up 44% of those cases. the next group were white men. they are 23%. the third group, hispanic men, 16%. during that time period, officers did shoot and kill one suspect. reporting live in san francisco, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> interesting when you see those numbers. thank you for that update. >>> new details this morning on california's hepatitis a outbreak. 75 cases repo

this came up after the mario woods shooting, you know, if we had a tazer, we wouldn't have shot. tazers who have electrocuted that man. we should look at our own o.i.s.'s and training issues. we should be working on the trust with this community. this community has been seriously affected. this commission has shutdown many meetings because of the anger and the distrust and the angst, the communities, the mission community, the homeless community, the tinderloin community, and bay view community, and we set meetings in the middle of the morning or middle of the afternoon behind a police officer's door. i think the process -- there's something wrong with this process. i think it was meant to keep people out. people waited six months before they had an opportunity to talk, and then, when they're here, they're disrespected in a manner where they're still locked out, they're locked outside, and they can't participate. i think it's shame on this commission to even consider voting on this, and i think we should give our dgo's a chance to work, our cameras a chance to work. we should for
