it's the first time that training and jobs will go off without the late marion barry started the program in 1979. we spoke with a few students to hear what they want to get out of it. >>> thousands of people have spread out for the first day of the d.c. summer youth program. we caught up with two very nervous and excited young people down at the wilson building. the 23-year-old sits at her desk we recently met her at another youth employment job and the tranty graduate students fit in under the summer program expanded age group for men and women up to 2437. we met a younger worker. he showed up ready to learn. >> i definitely gotten experience? different offices. it's not just wake up in the morning and go to work. there's policy, there's actually protocol and i have learned a lot. >> i have always wanted a job. first i thought maybe a camp counsellor or something like that, but my dad was like you should try something more challenging. i can learn how to be responsible and take leadership because most people are not taking the job in an office like this but more like maybe easier jobs.

this is the lower marion soccer club special needs program.he kids are six to 16 years old, boys and girls. they even have their own facebook page. we caught up with the bryn mawr college players in the fall. i like to get a goal. 9 year old calvin kennedy proudly shows off his kick. they go out and play each week. when he first came out he he really didn't understand soccer, but now he is happy he has friends that he can play with here you go. his mom mom wants the world for him and this is the place that makes that happen. i want him to participate. i want him to run around. i want him to interact because that's a very important thing. this is the real world. you're going to be with typical player. if the players need more help, they've got it. walter kline is a soccer shadow. he is working with connor. sometimes i'll play with them. do a little one on one. it's fun. connor was born with an incredibly rare condition, only 500 people have been diagnosed. he's making amazing strides. he only learned to walk when he turned six. so he's nine now
