deputies arrested nicory marquis spann... 27-year-old spann is accused of shooting four-year veteran alex ladwig in the face with his own service gun... the shooting happened at the watt avenue regional transit light rail stop near interstate 80 around six last night... deputy ladwig is assigned to regional transit and was working overtime when the gunman attacked him. (steve) ladwig underwent surgery after being shot in the jaw and is in stable condition. deputies say spann hid in a nearby motel for about three hours... which led to many buildings in the area to be evacuated. when deputies went into the motel-- they say spann was found inside of a room... lying on the floor in a fetal position. he was taken into custody.
