and supervisor mar, i think you talked a little bit about the 2006 surgeon general's report. one thick that was in the report, even short term exposure can be dangerous to cardiovascular health. in addition to sending out letters to the building land lords and managers what our department plans to do is to do two mailings because there will be first the apartment owners with 50 or less units who will be phased in as the first phase, so we'll do a mailing to notify those owners and then subsequently on second mailing to inform the other apartment owners of the larger units and we also plan to have a web site with questions and answers and provide technical assistance. so in this way we can increase the land lords' awareness and education and really continue to have a dialogue about second hand smoke in multi unit housing. >> thank you so much for all the great work on this. so, colleagues, if there are no other questions, let's open this up for public comment. we have a number of tenant reps but also speakers from the apartment association and others so i wanted to first call

the scientist chose this place because it is mars like, allowing them to understand how life exists in extreme environments. an expedition itself reveals how people might live and work on mars if they were studying the landscape there, and that is of interest to the mission. so i followed the scientists in the field to understand how they explored. it was a big topic at nassau, exploration but we had never even in cognitive science, my home discipline, had never studied exploration in the field as people really explore a new landscape. how did they decide where to go? what tools did they use? i documented how they collected and organize samples that they would analyze with instruments in their laboratories back on earth. i studied how they diagrammed and described their work in their notebooks and how this

mars is millions of kilometers from the earth. but the would-be astronauts were never very far from the scientists monitoring them in a moscow hangar. they even carried out in space work in a sand pit. what was impossible, though, was to mock up the weightlessness they would experience on a real journey into space. a mission to mars is still decades away, and scientists will have to design a spacecraft that could endure such a long journey. but the experiment was trying to find out is what the impact might be on the human mind and body. when the men emerged from the capsule almost a year and a half after going in, there were smiles for the camera. but the study certainly took its toll. within weeks of the mission starting, there were changes in some of the men's sleeping patterns. >> we found the crew members, many of them increased their sleep time with time in mission but there was one crewmember consciously or subconsciously at salicylate shorter and shorter, and he was the one who was responsible for 80% of the errors. >> what

while the current mars rover is cool, imagine a new model that could hop around mars. it's something innasa is workin on with stanford university. we cheered along with nasa when the curiosity rover landed on mars. but imagine a few toor where when we get to the red planet we can explore it much faster with a new rover being called the hedge hog designed to work in the low gravity martian atmosphere. >> advantage of the fact we have very little gravity and this is where we can hop and carry a lot of distance without having to roll over as we do traditionally with the mars rover. >> reporter: a joint project between nasa's jet propulsion lab and stanford university, the hedge hog may resemble a special effect but it is destined to be about the most mobile thing in the universuniverse. >> only to hop but also to tumble. >> reporter: the more we know about mars the faster we or something can visit mapping the martian surface with the hedge hog rover is likely five to ten years away. even the project itself has people thinking about what's next. >> the possibility of dream
