nbc's matt bradley joins me now again from penzance. , talk us through, what can we expect tomorrow? >> reporter: look, the fact is that biden has already met the queen. he met her in 1982 for the first time when he was a senator from delaware, and tomorrow, he's actually meeting her again as president. the queen has been here in cornwall. she was photographed with biden. she was photographed with the entire g7 yesterday at that family photo, so this is not necessarily a new meeting, but you know, here's the thing. they're going to -- joe biden and jill biden, they're going to windsor palace to have tea with queen elizabeth, who has met every president except one of the past 14, but it's not going to be a state visit, so that is something that the queen offered president trump, biden's predecessor, so it's not going to be the same level of pomp and circumstance. it sounds -- you can't really say that anything is casual when you're meeting with the queen, but it sounds a lot more casual than what president trump got. that doesn't necessar

matt bradley is in england. and also with us is ravi agerwall. andrea, what message is president biden sending with today's announcement on selling vaccine doses with the rest of the world? >> reporter: he is trying to show there's american leadership, that america is contributing to covax, the global consortium for vaccine doses. he is striking a different pose, certainly, from donald trump, coming into a g7. trying to prove that america has humanitarian issues at heart, that america is also bouncing back from the pandemic. leading the way in terms of economic recovery, which will spur the global recovery worldwide and that as he puts it, america has to do its part when the rest of the world is suffering. but it's also in america's self-interest in terms of national security, economic growth, because unless the world comes out of this pandemic, america will not as well, will not fully recover economically, while it's still spreading, while there's mutations around the world. this is 500 million doses starting in august with 200 million this year

foreign correspondent matt bradley is in london with more. han, waited 48 hours after the birth of birth of their daughter to inform the rest of the public. we have gotten some reaction today from the rest of the royals, who are somewhat estranged from harry and meghan. they said they were delighted at the news of the second child for harry and meghan. the child will be called lilibet diana. that's important. what that means is that they are creating some kind of continuity, connectivity between themselves, way out in california. she was born in santa barbara. and the royal family in london from which they have such tense relationship. lilibet is the nickname of queen elizabeth ii. diana is the name of prince harry's late mother. everyone knows that story. this really shows that this couple, even as they have tried to distance themselves from the royal family, and, indeed, lilibet will be the 11th great grandchild of queen elizabeth the second and the first of all 11 to be born outside of great britain. this just goes to show they are trying t

we're going back to london with matt bradley and all the details on this happy story. look at your smile, too. what do you know about the baby? >> well, what we know is it was 7 pounds, 11 ounces in california, not where i am here in london. you mentioned the names. it's really interesting. here hearing the baby's name is lilibet diana mountbatten. so lilibet is elizabeth ii who was called lilibet as a child. that middle name is, of course, diana. that refers as an ode to her father's mother, princess diana, who died in the late '90s in a car crash. of course, we all know that story. so, you know, there was a lot of discussion about these names. names, of course, are hugely significant. now, there was thoughts it might be lilibet or thoughts it might be pipp, which would be a reference to her great grandfather, prince philip. they were thinking maybe a nice homage to prince philip to name the baby pip. this is britain so the bookies were out in force, taking bets on the names. names are open for betting. smart money had diana 4 to 1. most of britain and bookies thought

nbc's matt bradley has more. >> reporter: another busy day for joe biden at the g7.ere i'm standing here what we heard today was the jarvis bay initiative where the g7 is meeting. the idea is that global leaders are getting together to try to stave off a future pandemic. now, the main headline from this is that they hope to ready the world to confront the pandemic and come up with a vaccine for a new disease within 100 days of a pandemic appearing. so this is, you know, lessons learned from the covid-19 pandemic. but the other thing they're working on and talking about today, the big headline, is infrastructure. that's quite a bit different from joe biden's infrastructure plan domestically. the idea is they're trying to confront china's huge global belt and road initiative, which has seen china lend and give money to developing economies to build up their infrastructure so china can trade with him. the g7 hopes their plan will be a more ethical plan to china's expanding power throughout the world. >> that was nbc's matt bradley reporting. >>> now, we turn to the othe

joining me is matt bradley. we are awaiting the meeting from prime minister boris johnson. proceedings, the sessions going on this morning before joe biden and other leaders started to filter out, it was mostly about the environment. these new announcements are going to build on what the white house is saying was an unusually productive g7. they covered the pandemic and climate change, but overall of this lies joe biden's next week with russian president vladimir putin and the confrontation with china. what we will be hearing today is probably more about the environment. these g7 companies are going to be trying to finance countries to get them to move away from fossil fuels. and a statement from g7 that they were going to move away from financing any subsidies for high emission sources. they sound on paper like bureaucratic speak, but at the end of the day, getting these economies together. and like last week, 15% corporate tax minimum, this is a big deal getting companies to agree on shared restrictions. so this announcement we will probably be hearing about soon from var

matt bradley is in london outside buckingham palace for them. i imagine this is going overwhelm in london. what's been the reaction? >> reporter: so far, this is the thing we were waiting for, some response from the palace. we just heard a very formal statement, very short, describing all the members of the royal family saying they are all delighted at hearing the news of the death -- excuse me, of the birth of lily diana windsor. these names are really important. there's so much friction between the sussexes in california and the royal family here in london behind me. so this is something you can wonder whether adding another person into the royal family going to ease this tension or if it's going heighten it. lily beth will be eighth in line behind her 2-year-old brother and behind her father, prince harry, who is sixth in line to the throne. so all of this is moving quite quickly, and the royal family acted as those they just heard the news. we also know that the baby came on friday. so we can assume that the royal family heard about this lon

let's go to matt bradley, he's joining me from the town the pen sans. what i found interests is how the reporter pushed boris johnson for an answer and they got one, right? >> reporter: yeah, i mean, it was a bit of an answer. i'm not sure it was exactly laying out totally the relationship, but it was fascinating. of all of the leader at the g7, including emanuel macron, boris johnson probably had by far the best relationship with president trump. since this trip for biden is in many ways trying to distance away from trump inch, saying we're going to be joining against with they international institutions, it's interesting, because boris johnson has some catching up to do. you can tell he's trying to endear himself to the new u.s. president. ritz possible he might be thinking he put too many eggs in trump's basket. here's that exchange. >> reporter: how would you categorizes the difference in your meetings with president biden versus president trump. >> obviously something is very different. it's taking place in the united kingdom, nots france. >> repor

we'll get right over to london right now where nbc's matt bradley has the details on this happy story. what do you know, matt? >> reporter: alex, it turns out this new royal baby was born on friday in california. the baby is healthy, born a little before noon on friday. and the names, this new baby will be called lily diana mountbatten-windsor, excuse me, it's a mouthful. there's a lot of different families there, different elements of the royal family. lily was actually the nickname of her great-grandmother, queen elizabeth, the current reigning queen, and diana of course is a tribute to her grandmother, princess diana of wales and the mother of prince harry. so there's a lot there. mountbatten-windsor is the royal family's name, that's the combination there. and the naming here is always an issue when you're talking about a member of the royal family, prince harry, who has had a very, very difficult sort of half-divorce and a contentious relationship with london, with the royal family here. so how this new baby will impact that, well, it's really hard to see. we haven't heard a reac
