matt delucia is live on the scene to fill us in on what he has learned. matt? >> reporter: part of the boulevard is shut down right now, and you can see some lanes are open behind me. let's show you some of the video since it is hard to see from our vantage point. detectives confirm they have people at the scene for a report of a shooting and that homicide detectives are involved here as well, this is a homicide investigation. what we have been told so far, there was a shooting that happened at the roosevelt boulevard and summer dale avenue. we are waiting to get more specific information on what happened here this morning, but there was a vehicle that crossed all lanes of the boulevard and crashed on the other side of the road here, so you can imagine roosevelt boulevard, how many lanes there are. if you are traveling around the area right now you can see the barricades there, although we are just talking about the outer lanes of the northbound side of roosevelt at summerdale avenue. that the inner lanes and southbound side is unaffected. we are waiting to get

nbc 10's matt delucia is live in wilmington with more on the investigation. matt, tell us about it. >> reporter: rosemary, this is the park where that little girl was found and police are now warning parents to be on the lookout and also to warn their kids about stranger danger. now, this all happened on thursday evening in new castle county. police say they were called out to this neighborhood of plum run after the 4-year-old went mi missing. about two hours later, police found her walking alone in banning park. police have been going door to door over the past couple of days, trying to find surveillance video. children here saw it happen. witnesses say the man pulled up in a dark sedan that had tinted windows and kids were playing outside and this man started talking with the young girl. >> i saw him wave his hand to get in the car. he snatched one of them and started chasing after the car. >> reporter: and the girl was taken to the hospital for treatment. police say that she was sexually assaulted. she has since been reunited with her parents. but again, th

and matt delucia is live in christ church in philadelphia's old city neighborhood. h service here for easter sunday, the sunrise service, it has become a tradition here in old city and many folks that have made this their own tradition, they made their way inside the church and take a look what it looked like at about an hour ago. a few dozen people woke up very early to be here and symbolically the church gathered sticks and branches from the burial ground here and used that for kindling in this fire. once they moved inside, theyed with prayers and hymns to continue the celebrated belief. i spoke with some of the faithful here earlier and they say it's special. >> is it just -- i am getting chills about what happens in there, it's so beautiful we are all just one, and that's what it feels, we are just one unit of the universe, and it's just -- it's just so beautiful. i am not that much of a religious person, but i would not miss this. >> reporter: that service is still going on right now inside christ church here, and what is interesting you don't see too much of th

matt delucia is live from the park where she was found. matt, fill us in on this. >> reporter: and we have been in contact with new castle county police this morning. they are still searching for this kidnapper. meantime, this park, as you mentioned, is where that little girl was found, about 7 miles away from where she was abducted. police right now, they're warning parents throughout the area to be on the lookout. and also advising them to alert their children. the kidnapping happened on thursday evening. new castle county police say they were called out to the neighborhood of sugar plum, that area there, after the 4-year-old went missing. about two hours later, police found her walking alone in banning park, and police have been going door to door over the past couple of days, trying to find some surveillance video of this. children here saw it happen. witnesses say that the man pulled up in a dark sedan with tinted windows as kids played outside and the man started talking with the young girl. >> saw him wave his hands to get in the car

> a man shot and killed behind the wheel and that driver lost control and crashed his car, and matt delucia is live along the scene in the summerdale section of philadelphia. tell us what you have learned this morning. >> reporter: rosemary, police are still here at the scene, and over here you can see where this all began, where the shooting happened. they have the evidence markers down there on the ground and investigators are at the scene and this happened shortly before 6:00 this morning, and you can see where the vehicle ended up. a car stopped at a light here on summerdale avenue at the boulevard and then a white cadillac pulled up alongside at the light and somebody shot into the victim's car. the cadillac turned on the boulevard headed south but the victims' car started swerving out of control across all lanes of the boulevard and crashing on the other side. the vick was pronounced dead shortly after 6:00 this morning, and the victim was shot several times in the upper body, and witnesses told the police what happened and there are no video cameras here, so that is making it difficu

nbc 10's matt delucia is live for us in hunting park with the latest on the investigation. matt, tell us how this all unfold would. >> reporter: vai, police, they are still trying to find those three teenage boys and they have a little bit more information to go on today. take a look at some video. this is the abandoned house on the 1300 block of west butler street. we went back there this morning. not much has changed. police say around 5:00 yesterday afternoon in broad daylight a 13-year-old girl was walking down the street when three teenage boys dragged her inside the home and assaulted her. police believe those boys are roughly 15 or 16 years old. the victim was taken to st. christopher's hospital where she was able to tell detectives what happened. meantime, neighbors tell us they still cannot believe what happened. >> that's ridiculous. for little kids to be raping little kids. what are we coming to? >> we only have nicknames on one or two of them right now. but we need the public's help. it's a very nasty and ugly crime? you heard the commissioner there asking for th

and matt delucia joins us live from the scene. the question for septa riders is about possible impacts to their trains. >> reporter: right, george, i will get out of the way so you can see the vehicle right there parked on one of the septa tracks here at the firm rock station. it went down the stairs here on to the platform and ended up on the railway there. the good news for riders is from what we have seen this is not impacting travel on the regional trail too much here at this stop, and the track closest to us is clear, and we have seen trains coming and going from this side towards the center city airport side. it's important to note that we are talking about the regional rail tracks, and it's not affectiaffect affecti affecting the broad street next to us. it might take a little bit of time as you might imagine to get the car off the tracks, and these tracks closest to us, there are three sets of them, so there are two that is closest to us that are free and clear and it's just that one track that is being affected furthest a

nbc10's matt delucia joins us live from our digital operations center. we're hearing from some of the victim's family members. >> reporter: that's right. they say this guy was a good man, and they just saw him earlier in the day. what's more, police believe this was entirely a random attack. this is a portion of the video posted to facebook. that's the suspect, steve stephens. the suspect recorded a manifesto on his planned killing spree. then the video shows the suspect getting out of the car and telling a man on the street he is about to die because of a woman. a handgun appears, there's a gunshot. moments later, the victim is laying in blood. the victim has been identified as robert godwin sr., 74. his family told reporters they are heartbroken. >> this man right here was a good man. i hate that he's gone. what i'm going do. it's not real. >> feels like my heart is going to stop. >> it will be all right. >> it feels like it's going to stop. >> reporter: i've been keeping tabs on the coverage out of cleveland, checking for updates. a facebook spokesper

nbc10's matt delucia joins us live with more on the exact closures and the time expected to have impact. tell us more. >> reporter: and it's one thing to see it on a map. it's another to have to deal with it every day. later on tonight, we'll experience more in terms of those traffic detours and closures. right here you see the draft stage getting ready there. starting at 7:00 p.m., traffic on the parkway from 20th to the art museum will be shut down. kelly drive will be closed at fairmount avenue. there will be detours. tonight after midnight, we'll see the full extent of the closures through the end of the draft. that includes some side streets, as well. also keep in mind that we will see the last phase of closures that will be side streets, some of them accessible only by local traffic. we've been talking with residents here. some excited, some not so excited. they're tired of all the traffic detours. they've been going on for about two weeks now. >> we could walk to work. for us it's great. like my mom lives in montgomery county and works down in old city. i could imagine for people

t matt delucia is at the boy's and girl's club. tell us what's going on. >> reporter: this is one of the places that will have volunteers. very busy today. there are a lot of events going on. so victorino, boys and girls club, it will be very, very packed later on this morning. about 200 people at this one location ready to work. that work will start just after 8:00. this is the 16th year for comcast cares day. comcast, a parent company of nbc 10. so every year we see people getting out and doing some good work. it is a very big project. more than 100,000 people in all will be taking part to help clean up and we'll be doing these projects to help the community. the folks here in nicetown will be cleaning, painting, doing some landscaping around the building. and the volunteers will be all at this one spot. we talked about this being a big effort. there are about a thousand different projects going on throughout the country and some around the world to revitalize parks, paint murals, and stock up community food banks. a lot of good

matt delucia is live in camden. bring us up to speed on this case. >> reporter: the trial date had been delayed several times. as you mentioned, that jury selection is expected to begin today. the next step in this process. a year and a half following the death of this 3-year-old boy. over the weekend, a memorial that had been set up over the past year and a half for brandon creato was removed. this the spot where he was found dead in october of 2015. the candles and stuffed animals were taken away because the jury will be expected to make a trip to the site at a wooded area near the cooper river at some point during the trial. prosecutors say it was the boy's dad, 23-year-old david creato jr., who killed the boy because he was hindering a relationship with his teenage girlfriend. creato has pleaded not guilty to murder and child endangerment charges. he says the boy wandered away on his own. prosecutors, though, say the boy suffered from homicidal violence. jury selection is expected to begin today. we'll keep you

matt delucia is live at the crash scene. matt? >> reporter: this is where it happened here at the intersection of summerdale and the boulevard. the shooting happened intersect swerved and went across to the other side. the area was shut down for a while but it has since re-opened. here's video whe s that investigation underway, a this morning. a car was driving on summ traff and a white cadillac drove alongside and somebody started shooting at that victim'm was s times in the upper body, and that victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 6:00 this morning. now the cadillac, we are told, went south on roosevelt right now police have no idea why it happened and what the motive for the shooting, and there's one witness who told police what happened and where that cadillac traveled, and police are trying to find any evidence in the form of surveillance cameras, and this area was pretty much cordoned off earlier this morning with police tape and there were two different scenes here with the incident, but police have left th

matt delucia is live there to show us what drivers can expect. matt?porter: the closures will be in effect for the next couple of weeks until that draft is over. that is something that you will need to plan. first i'll show you what happened just after midnight here. you see the closure here at spring garden and pennsylvania avenue. this road shut down at ben knight. you see the orange barrels and barricades. let's show a map of what is affected now. the left lane closed from eakins oval to spring garden. the right two lanes in front of the art museum steps are closed. and southbound kelly drive lost a lane between 25th street and the parkway. we were there yesterday as crews started putting up the barricades, getting ready for the shutdown. we talked with drivers about what this will do to their ride to work. >> this is my route to work every morning. so it will definitely be inconvenient. >> i definitely think it's worth it. philadelphia's a great city. it will be great to be on the national stage for such an awesome event. >> reporter: all right. ta

matt delucia is following the breaking developments.n. >> reporter: police say this man is dangerous. he claimed that he's killed others. in the video posted to facebook yesterday afternoon, he said he intends to kill more. >> hopefully i'm going to kill as many people as i can. >> reporter: that was a portion of what he posted to facebook yesterday. steve stephens recorded a manifesto on the killing spree. the video shows the man getting out of the car and telling a man on the street he's about to die because of a woman. a handgun appears, there's a gunshot. moments later the victim is laying in blood. the victim has been identified as robert godwin sr. 74 years old. his family told reporters yesterday they are heartbroken. >> this man right here was a good man. i hate that he's gone, you know what i mean? what i'm going to do. it's not real. >> it feel like my heart going to stop. it feels like it's going to stop. >> reporter: the video of the murder has been removed from facebook. i've been keeping tabs on the coverage out of clevela

matt delucia is live with more on the abrupt change and when a replacement could be coming. this will be a real pain for drivers. >> reporter: not good, tracy, that's for sure -- especially if you got used to this method of doing. it the problem simply was that the company that runs the meterup app ran into financial problems. i checked the app store here, and it still says that the app is not available. you can't even download this. the idea was that you could go to one of these kiosks, you start by putting your money in. and you" add time and pay -- and then you can add time and pay by phone. if you're in a restaurant, somewhere, you know, a starbucks, a coffee shop, and you don't want to go back out to put money in the meter, you didn't have to. you could do it by the phone. this app launched two years ago, at one point bringing in $15,000 a day from philly parking meters. the parking authority, though, is no longer accepting this app. what does this mean for you? you have to physicalygo to the kiosk -- physically go to the kio kiosk. some drivers are annoyed by that now.

nbc10's matt delucia is live with breaking details. to speed. >> reporter: that was about three, four hours ago. much different scene this hour. this is the home on zimmerman avenue. and because of that daylight, we see more of the back of this house. firefighters are still here putting water on this home. there was a collapse there. the upper floors collapsed on the first floor that you see there. so quite a bit of damage. take a look again. when we arrived on the scene, heavy flames in the back of this house. firefighters did have some trouble early on. some trouble with a fire hydrant, getting water to this scene. so that complicated things a little bit early on. the good news is that everyone who was inside the house made it out safely. there were two families with children in there. they did get out. i'm told that there were four units in this one home. there are apartments here, three stories high. again, those top two floors did collapse as a result of the intense flames. a couple of firefighters had to jump from a window at one

matt delucia, nbc10 news. >> see you then for the update. thanks. >>> new overnight, more gunfire in philadelphia as police try to piece together a string of shootings from the weekend. since this weekend, three people have been killed, and 15 others injured. four of the victims were shot overnight. nbc10's pamela osborne joins us live from police headquarters in center city. do investigators know a reason for the increase in violence? >> reporter: as you said, a definite increase in gun violence over the easter holiday weekend. the latest shooting happening just this morning around 1:00. two men and a woman were shot on whitaker avenue in feltonville. right now the three victims are listed in stable condition at temple hospital. a half hour later and a block away on woodland avenue, a police officer on patrol heard a gunshot. that officer followed up and found a crowd outside of lounge 62. there was also a man dead on the ground there. and early easter morning on f street, a woman was found shot twice. she was transported to temple where sh

nbc10's matt delucia will join us. what do the closures mean for the commute? >> reporter: we're 30 minutes away from the final phase of closures. we're at the intersection of 25th and kelly drive. some cars are still able to get through the area for now. >>> that won't be for long. some closures will expands from 21st -- will expand from 21st to 24th. a few spots local access only. the bft parkway en franklin par closed now from 20th to the art museum. by one estimate, around 200,000 will show up for the draft this week. the big question a lot of people wonder is why the art museum. mayor jim kenney answers that question. >> there were a few cities they were interested in. they were two years in chicago last. they wanted the rocky steps. they wanted the art museum. we tried to talk about other locations, the sports complex or penn's landing. they wanted those steps as the backdrop. >> reporter: for folks around the areas they just have told to deal with the trafficme. fairmont at cully is shut down now -- kelly is shut down. taxi drivers wondering about this.
