nbc, you know, deneen, nbc had its own issues with matt lauer. is there a problem here for nbc?. well, nbc still has yet to give a formal reason as to why they spiked that story. but you've got to look at it this way, it's one big club. the weinstein company had at some point some of their projects on nbc universal. so they're basically supporting their own, it's just one big club. elizabeth: you know, it was really pretty controversial that nbc spiked ronan farrow's story, eric. that's what we're hearing. they say they support the fair press. he won the pulitzer, what's your take on all of this? >> i think that, you know, what we just heard is true. i think they had inside or -- insider desiring to continue a relationship with weinstein. inif this report is true, weinstein had tremendous power. this is a case where they got caught in a whole backlash that became a movement, and now it's exposed. but we're going to find out. i mean, it's a report. i don't know that it's true, but if it is, it's bad. elizabeth: you've been great tonight, thank you so much for coming on. >> thank

as you hear in this report they obviously were calling nbc executives they had a matt lauer problem, too which apparently they knew about before people really started to come forward with that. i want to get your thoughts on one other issue here that kind of has to do with the press and with this canada trade story. it's another big story tonight as president trump has blasted a toronto newspaper for publishing off-the-record remarks that he made to bloomberg news yesterday in the piece president trump said that canada is, quote: going to tell -- going to make a deal at some point but the toronto star published these remarks from the interview that it had, from an anonymous source off the record the deal will totally be on our terms, totally. the star wrote that trump isn't making any compromises but that he can't say that publicly because he feels, quote: it's going to be so insulting they won't be able to make a deal. the president responded to all of this, wow, i made the off-the-record comment with bloomberg concerning canada and powerful misunderstanding blatantly violated. oh w
