let's go over to matt pellman and talk about the commute. that's a mess right there. >> reporter: things were going swimmingly, and then the schuylkill started acting up. this is the crash east of montgomery drive, you can see a lot of emergency crews on the scene, flashing lights. just that left lane is getting by at the moment. this is creating a backup on 76 heading toward center city. you can see the backup 7 miles per hour eastbound a lot of people complaining about the standstill already as you come east of the boulevard and head toward girard avenue and center city this morning because of that accident. but if we widen out a bit, you look over at the mlk drive and the kelly drive they are nice and clear. use the river drives not the schuylkill expressway. one accident in the city on the boulevard northbound side by harbison avenue by the acme, it was a hit-and-run accident. doesn't sound like it's a big deal, everything is off to the side. no need to worry about that one. let's get suburban, malvern, paoli pike they are doing the wate

matt pellman what are the roads looking like? >> reporter: well, we have a few big problems to start off thursday, one in newark, delaware, we've been watching the scene from one of the traffic cameras 896 southbound all lanes are blocked because of an accident involving two tractor-trailers. we can roll that video. the first truck was carrying food products and the second truck carrying paper products, the first truck slowed down the second one didn't and rear ended the first one. there's a small fuel spill and debris all over the roadway. a lot of cleanup needs to happen in glasgow. until it does, 896 is closed. use sunset lake road or purgatory swamp road. close to elkins park very high there's a crash at new second street at church road. southbound on the blue route mid county tolls heading for the schuylkill expressway westbound watch out on the ramp we're getting reports of a chair on the ramp. once you get on the schuylkill expressway westbound there's tire tread in the westbound lanes close to gulph mills. watching overni

matt pellman is here with more. >> reporter: i have been watching the falls bridge this afternoon. but i have been seeing a couple of cars crossing the span over the schuylkill river, this is welcome news that it is opening substantially earlier than we thought, it was scheduled to reopen next friday but the falls bridge in the process of reopening in east falls, the bad news is, coming up next friday we lose the walnut lane bridge for construction until september. a little bit of good news at least in east falls this afternoon. that is extra beneficial because the city avenue bridge is a problem. in is southbound at presidential where joe's crab shack sits on the right side. a vehicle fire here and the fire truck is blocking off several of the southbound lanes, coming off the city avenue bridge on to city avenue southbound expect delays. we are also watching a crash in the holmesburg section of the city but traffic can squeeze by. and in south philadelphia, avoid it's isn't section of south broad and ritner, and across the river a crash at 295 northbound near 47 speeds in the 30 t

matt pellman is here. >> cha cha to the right if you are traveling on the schuylkill westbound, becauseken down vehicle. get to the right past passyunk and expect a lot of traffic on the schuylkill westbound approaching university avenue. and a bit farther west, the accident by 30th street has cleared out and it's been a mess the rest of the day and at mid-day we had construction and jams continue westbound past passyunk and past the schuylkill route 1, the roosevelt boulevard is locked up. and the vehicle fire over the last half hour is off to the side. a little better but still a stand still on 76. delays persist with reports of a crash and lanes are open but a 5 minute delay on the northbound travel time. a bunch of issues in the landsdale area, a crash along 7th street and broad along maine and a vehicle fire at north wales road and a set of downed wires in point pleasant pike. stick with bradshaw to get around that and the tacony palmyra bridge just came down after opening for a southbound ship. the traffic should be moving again any minute. we'll check it again coming up in the 5:
