matt pelman with a look at traffic. matt. >> yeah, we have been talking about this fire since it broke out about an hour ago or so summit avenue between woodland and hillcrest avenues in shanksville is the area to avoid. gravel pike is the way to get earlier we downed tree on gravel pike but that has been cleared. go ahead and use gravel pike. in collegeville watching a crash by the munroe muffler along first avenue which is 29 at main street so at this point avoid 29 in collegeville but later on today, i would use 29 or 100 here in upper hanover to get around the closure of layfield road. that's 663 closed yesterday, it's closing again today from 9:00 until 3:00 for some midday construction so midday again use 100 or 29 as alternates. big changes begin today along 422 by stow. if you're a westbound driver, they're closing the off and on-ramps beginning today for about two years and relocating them about a half mile west. so, things are going to look a little bit different there at the stow interchange of 422 beginning

matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. how was your weekend, matt. >> you know, i wasn't sure how much of a weekend i'd have left after i made it home friday night. what a mess that was. but after that, it was pretty good, rick and sharrie. this afternoon travel times look a whole lot better on the schuylkill than they did friday night, but there's still not ideal. 32 minutes is still more than double what it ideally should be here on the eastbound side. we've got a vehicle off to the side just east of montgomery avenue. police assisting there. but overall the lanes are opened. it's just heavy traffic in them. better news in cheltenham. our vehicle fire on the southbound side of 309 near cheltenham avenue cleared out so speeds there back up into the mid-50's. we'll take it. you might want to use 309 northbound instead of the northbound side of the northeast extension headed towards allentown this afternoon. there's an overturned truck on the ramp from the northbound side of 476 to lehigh valley. you can squeeze by but it's

matt pelman here now with the update for us. the kids look like they're having a great time. >> of course the kids are. >> good afternoon to you once again, sharrie. might be better than friday but we're still saddled with delays in a lot of spots as you try and head home on this monday afternoon. 422 westbound a sea of red brake lights lighting up. it's because of a problem on the eastbound side up ahead near royersford. that's where there's a vehicle fire giving us restrictions so extra heavy westbound, gaper delay in the normally busy spot because of that eastbound vehicle fire. i would use ridge pike main street or 724 instead of 422 this afternoon. heading home toward the lehigh valley delays on the northbound side of the northeast extension from quakertown up to the lehigh valley interchange. that's where there's an overturned truck partially blocking the off ramp from the northbound side. because of those speeds like 20 miles per hour you might want to come up 309 towards center valley instead. you don't want to get on 309

let's find out just how bad it is from matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center tonight. matt. >> i keep thinking they're going to get the accident cleared completely out of the way rick and sharrie because they have the vehicle that at one point was overturned attached to a tow truck but they also temporarily have all westbound traffic stopped here by mall boulevard on the schuylkill expressway. i think they're clearing it right now and that's why they've stopped the westbound traffic. now they're going to let some traffic move on the shoulder toward the turnpike tolls but bottom line is if you're headed toward the turnpike on the westbound side of the schuylkill stay here in these inner lanes, not the outer lanes where you also exit for 202 and 422. if you're going to get on 422 westbound, there's a crash there as well. it's just past route 23 getting us those single digit speeds like 9 miles per hour so 23 itself i think would be a better bet. schuylkill eastbound has been extra heavy this afternoon because of an earlier vehicle fire near gulph mills. at least that's go

vitarelli is joining us. >> let's head over to meteorologist, david murphy and map ma and in -- matt pelmann rogers. >> you know what, matt, so there is a weekend change that you're going to like. it's next weekend, not this weekend. we're stuck with this for awhile. as we take a look at satellite you can see there's a fair amount of cloud cover around the southern half of the region. i'm expecting that to break up. most of us should transition to a decent amount of sunshine later today. there are also a couple of break away light snow showers here or there. you might run into that on the way in but it looks pretty low impact, probably just stuff to look at, not so much to hinder your travel. slow it down if the roads get wet. 20 degrees in trenton right now, just 18 in allentown, 19 in reading and 22 degrees in wilmington and philadelphia. 23 in millville. so, obviously it's cold but like yesterday, we're also dealing with a little bit of a breeze and that's giving you wind chills that are even more uncomfortable. it feels like it's 12 degrees right now in philadelphia. nine in trenton. 11

. >> let's go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center today. y, matt. >> i think it's plenty cold here. i don't even want to think about minnesota. good afternoon to you brian and sharrie. in less than shocking news, we have some more disabled vehicles this afternoon. cars that don't want to run in these extremely cold conditions. one is here on the schuylkill expressway and a really -- in a really bad spot, it's westbound by university avenue which is a normal chokepoint in the afternoon. so, a little tough to see but it's there in the left lane giving us an extra heavy delay westbound past passyunk through the scene of that disabled vehicle near university avenue. also had a broken down vehicle along 95 northbound side by the betsy ross bridge. that one luckily is cleared out of the way. but elsewhere on 95 northbound in delco, we've got reports of a fuel spill and even though it's mostly confined to the shoulder, it is a little bit slow there. southbound in delco you've got big delays again this afternoon because of that that wicked sun glare

gina gannon in for matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center trying to get us home on a friday. >> that's right i think you said the optical word we made it. on the big picture we have some slow speeds on the map. look at this on the vine we have 12 miles per hour on the schuylkill single digits 7 miles per hour. 95 now we have our typical backup out there from really i would say columbus boulevard through to about the area of allegheny. southbound we're seeing a delay out there on 95 around that betsy ross bridge. also don't forget tonight at the wells fargo center we're seeing andrea bocceli at 8:00 p.m. the vine is jammed, the schuylkill expressway and also the southbound side of the blue route but i want to show you the schuylkill expressway. we had an earlier issue at the montgomery avenue off-ramp. that has since cleared but it's left us with a really big westbound delay. so, traveling on the schuylkill westbound at montgomery drive expect some big delays particularly in general at your travel time on the westbound side of the schuylkill between the vine to the blue route

matt pelman standing by with the update for us.at news that will make you shudder coming. vine street expressway sharrie and brian westbound side an accident involving a city trash truck and a bmw. there you see it taking out the left lane as you travel westbound here by broad street. police are on the scene but with that left lane out of commission it is jammed solid coming off of 95 onto the westbound side of the vine. stay local, local side of the vine instead of the vine street expressway this afternoon. on the schuylkill expressway our broken down vehicle eastbound under 30th street station has cleared out but still slow speeds, a lot of them in the 20's as you come eastbound away from the boulevard and in case you're wondering about your overnight schuylkill work this week, it's eastbound that will close each night at 11 o'clock. you'll have restrictions both ways starting at 9:00 but they'll completely shut down the eastbound side each night this week starting at 11 o'clock. meanwhile 422 is also closing monday through thurs

let's get a final look at your traffic this morning with matt pelman.res to make their returns later on today. so we expect busy traffic around the area malls and shopping complexes. but right now we're looking pretty good here along 202 in king of prussia. volume at this point is still pretty light. we're watching a couple water main breaks and therefore icy conditions in a couple spots. east norriton germantown pike still blocked this morning near the friendly's and. northeast philadelphia a huge break and chopper6 was overhead of willits road at holme avenue. you can see all the water on the roadway there. that water turned to ice. local businesses had to be evacuated. septa bus routes detoured and the road buckled here so it's a huge mess. academy road and grant avenue can get you around this mess in northeast philadelphia. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. you will need your gloves and scarves today. it's really chilly out there. let's go to dave murphy. >> sun is up but don't be fooled, tam as you step outside you feel it. here are the numbers. 27 de

. >> let go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center on this friday. hey, matt. >> happy friday. john just mentioned the wall. if there's one spot you don't want to have a major traffic issue is few days before christmas is right by the king of prussia mall but that's what we've got this afternoon. schuylkill expressway westbound by mall boulevard it's a vehicle on its roof right here little hard to see because of the fire truck that just pulled up. there's an ambulance on the scene as well. police and penndot. and at the moment no westbound traffic is getting through here on the schuylkill expressway heading toward the valley forge toll plaza, the pennsylvania turnpike. this just happened about 10 minutes ago but they have all westbound lanes blocked here in the outer drive. if you're trying to get to the turnpike you stay in those inner lanes coming west on the schuylkill as you pass 202, stay on the inside lanes. outer lanes are blocked here by mall boulevard. eastbound traffic is moving okay right here but just up ahead near gulph mills there's a ve

. >> gina gannon is in for matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center with the very latest. >> hi guys. i thought for a friday in rush hour things would be a lot worse than they are so good thas good news. northbound side of 95 i took a look at your travel time and it's only 18 minutes right now between the vine out to woodhaven road so that is some great news. southbound though just a bit sluggish. noing too major there. the wells fargo center tonight at 8:00 p.m. andrea bocceli is in town. that concert could slow things down a bit. while we're seeing slow speeds like on the eastbound side of the schuylkill that's crowded. the vine is crowded and i want to show you the vine. we had an earlier accident. it was out here partially blocking this right lane on the westbound side of the vine. it has since cleared. we're still sluggish from broad street up through this point. but this eastbound side has really been holding on. we really haven't seen that big of a delay on that eastbound side so from eighth street to 95 expect that -- eastbound side of the vine to be a little crowded. le

. >> let's take it live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. how was your weekend. >> weekend was great. the first afternoon commute of the week could be going a little better, monica and brian as we're looking in south jersey a couple of issues this afternoon already along route 55. one is a crash southbound by 553. that's on the shoulder in sewell. not a big deal there. the bigger goal is farther south. it's an overturned truck and chopper6 hd is overhead of the accident scene. there you see the truck right on its side. they've got the left lane blocked coming southbound on 55 here in harrison township just south of glassboro south of 322. looks like another suv involved there, also, on the left shoulder. and emergency crews and a heavy duty tow truck remain on the scene here and with just that one southbound right lane getting by, here near the busy interchange of 322, we are jam packed coming back out to the maps speeds like 7 miles per hour on the southbound side of 55. so, traveling through south jersey, think not southbound 55, maybe sou
