so um, i'd like to welcome mayor lee mayor breed to our out. i think mayor lee wanted to know wanted us all to know that he's still with us in some capacity or another. i take that as a sign and a good one. for really the spirit of the asian community in the city and county of san francisco, one of resilience and one of excitement in these times after dealing with some very challenging times . what i appreciate most about this opportunity to celebrate the month of may as asian american and pacific islander heritage month is. we have an opportunity to really talk about not only the accomplishments and the things that we have achieved in the arts and in philanthropy and community, but we have an opportunity to really reflect on the past and also look back at what this community has gone through and emerged even stronger than it has ever been as a united front against those challenges, and so this is really an opportunity to reflect because last year i don't know if there were a lot of smiles on people's faces. in light of all the anti asian hate

san francisco mayor breed. and we are here at a building and a place that has been i would say decades in the making. many of us struggle with the bureaucracy of the city and the frustration around the bureaucracy. i gotta admit a lot to do with the laws created at the board of supervisors including i did not create those complicated laws only lus to get rid of bureaucracy and happy top have supervisor engardio joining us here today because he, too, is someone who care busy making things easier for people to do business with the city and county of san francisco. you know what is frustrating is how hard when you have to do thing in a permit center or apply for things and you go through the process and not only does the city make it too difficult for to you go throughout press they make you pay for it. and part of what i wanted to do with a lot of changes to our structure is to the try to clear out the bureaucracy, make it easy approximate simple. i remember when i was on the board of supervisors and every year w

that was mayor after mayor after mayor there have been plans, proposed moves to fremont, to san jose, different locations in the city of oakland, and each one has fallen through. at the end of it, people start pointing blame at each other. the fact that the mayor says she was caught off guard, i don't see how, you and i have been talking for months about the possibility of them moving to las vegas and of them looking for land. the second part of it is the idea that the a's using it for leverage, i don't think so, you don't call somebody up and say, we've got a deal that's got the backing of the governor and other people in nevada, you don't use that as leverage. the a's have long time said they went on a parallel path and they said they have been zeroed in on las vegas because oakland can't seem to get it done and that's what they did, they are making the move to las vegas, whether they actually build their remains to be seen, we've been here before, but that's where it stands. kristin: the a's issued a statement indicating that they were sincere. bottom line, i will read it really qu
