again, you heard meagan fitzgerald recapping what witnesses told her, they heard from gunshots and saw a gunman walking away. police told us they do not have a suspect in custody at this time. folks from inside the mall telling us that the mall had not been placed on lockdown, has not been placed on lockdown. this is a scene that started developing within the past 20 minutes or so. we're hearing also from emergency responders that several people are being transported as injured. the extent of their injuries at this point we do not knosn but this happening outside westfield montgomery mall. you heard megan say she saw the area right outside of macy's being taped off. this is right off of 270 at democracy and west lake terrace.

how is traffic looking right now, meagan? >> reporter: well, you can see behind me live here at the toll booth this can often be a choke point, and right now everything is looking pretty good. you can see that we have a slight -- a little bit of a slowdown here especially in the lanes where people are paying cash. but the ez pass, only lanes in the far left, those folks pretty much going right through. we have a slowdown once you get through the toll booth itself because we have 11 lanes going into three lanes. so there is a little bit of drag, but once you get that merge taken back up on the bridge. so great time to leave. that's what the experts had said. they predicted actually yesterday would be the peak travel day for a lot of people leaving town and that today would not be as bad. and that's what we're seeing out here this morning. they say that the best time to leave today is 11:00 a.m., so really right now if you're going to be crossing the bridge that's your best time. in terms of the worst time to get going today, w

. >> meagan fitzgerald has within atching the police meagan? >> reporter: jim andwendy, this parking lot behind me here was a crime scene for nearly six hours while police, montgomery county police, tried to piece together all that happened. you can see it's clear now, but we want to show you of what it looked like around 11:15 when call they saw three people suffering wo. th theyell us they woldsoon as arrived here. they taped off the perimeter as they continued that investigation to try and get to the bottom of what happened. we had an opportunity to speak with police earlier today. here's how they described the suspect's encounter with the victims. >> there was confrontation here in the mall parking lot. one individual was shot. two other individuals came to that person's aid potentially. they were also shot. >> reporter: and police tell us one of those victims, the good samaritan, died from his gunshot wounds. another victim is experiencing non-life-threatening injuries, whereas the other one is in critical work right now to the p thinvesti

meagan?the jurors started out with jurors hearing from fairfax county police officers who were there the night that andrew schmuhl and his wife alecia were arrested. it's the dash cam video that shows the picture of what happened moments after that crime. in court today the jury saw this video and heard from one of the offs alecia schmuhl's car on the beltway. it was just 30 minutes after fairfax county police were called to this mclane home where leo fisher and his wife were found stabbed, tortured and left to die inside. the officer testified that alecia was driving and andrew was in the passenger seat. the officer said, quote, i could see both passenger and driver talking to one another. it looked like they were arguing. i could see the passenger discarding his clothing. minutes later, police say alecia pulled the car over in a parking lot on the 7000 block of commerce street and the couple was arrested. prosecutors asked one of the arresting officers, quote, when you see him at this point

meagan?reporter: doreen, and video we're seeing for the first time andrew schmuhl tells officers he had taken several prescription pills. we are also learning what homicide detectives uncovered from the crime scene. >> police dash cam video was rolling at fairfax county officers chased andrew wife alecia schmuhl on the beltway the night of november 9, 2014. prosecutors 2014 showed this video to jurors for the very first time and called up several officers who said just 30 minutes before the chase they were called to this mclane home. officers said when they arrived they found arlington attorney leo fisher and his wife stabbed and left to die inside. the first officer on the witness stand told the court that alecia was driving the getaway car while andrew was disrobing in the front seat. the officer said, quote, i can see both passenger and driver talking to one another. it looked like they were arguing. i could see the passenger discarding his clothing. homicide detectives told the court that

meagan? >> reporter: some drivers try to avoid the b.w parkway and the biggest issues are potholes and line markings on the road making it challenging for them to know which lane is theirs. >> i'm usually on either 95 or the bwi parkway. >> the b.w. parkway is one of many heavily traveled roadways in and out of d.c. along with the claire barton parkway, but drivers are noticing what they call significant issues. >> it's usually less congested, but the road conditions are -- there are a lot of potholes. >> pamela ama is talking about the line striping on the roadways. specifically on the bw outer line of the roadway in many areas is missing as are the center lane dividers. >> reporter: ian is the union president for the park police. he said the problems on many of the roads are getting worse. >> you obscure your visibility, compounded with the lack of lane markings it could potentially be something deadly. >> the biggest issue he says is funding. the national park service says that's true, but

meagan fitzgerald is outside the federal courthouse in greenbelt.t sounds as if the judge struggled with this decision. >> reporter: chris, he did. that's after federal prosecutors revealed even more the case after federal agents raided the home of 30-year-old caleb bailey. the judge said he wasn't concerned so much about bailey being a flight risk. what he worried about was the danger to the community. federal prosecutors told the judge that investigators found several unlicensed machine guns inside bailey's home along with explosives and projectiles. the government also said bailey admitted to selling those weapons to friends and family as well as licensed gun dealerships. there was surveillance cameras that were all around his home and in his bathroom that captured minors stepping out of the shower and using the restroom. they argued there was no intent to produce child pornography. the prosecution said there's a lot of information, a lot of evidence, they're still combing through, including several hard through. the courtroom was filled with fri

meagan fitzgerald has our report. >> reporter: several fairfax county police officers just finished up majority of the day answering questions about the night he says andrew schmuhl forced his way into his mclean home. fairfax county officers described a gruesome scene when they entered leo fisher's home. leo fisher and his wife sue were suffering from multiple stab wounds and were struggling to stay alive. leo fisher told the jury that once inside andrew schmuhl tased him, tied him up, and then tied up his wife. schmuhl never identified himself, but fisher said schmuhl started questioning him about why his wife alicia was recently fired from fisher's law firm. the questioning went on for hours until fisher says, quote, the next thing i know he knocked me over backwards. he puts the pillow on me. he cuts my throat and starts stabbing me. then fisher says his wife starts screaming and that's when he says, kwoequote, schmuhl brough a gun and i saw him shoot her. he remembers his wife covered in blood while they struggled to call 911. fisher told the jury his life has significantly change

meagan fitzgerald is live now with more on what authorities found during a raid of his charles county home. >> reporter: we're told 30-year-old caleb bailey was elected as a trump delegate back in april. he was illegally shipping ammunition and explosives. additional charges could soon follow. earl redden was home on may 5th when investigators surrounded his street. >> charles county police were down at the bottom of our driveway. they had about six or eight cars going down the road. >> reporter: he found out atf agents were raiding the home of 30-year-old caleb bailey. bailey was shipping boxes of ammunition and explosives to a licensed gun dealer in wisconsin. >> it was clear to postal inspectors that the material inside was dangerous and that they contacted the atf right away. >> reporter: one of the boxes split open and postal inspectors found 400 rounds of ammunition along with other projectiles. when investigators received a search warrant, they found evidence he was making and had child pornography. sources close to the investigation say investigators also found equipment relat

this happened just meagan fitzgerald joins us live from the scene. what you learned about this so far? >> reporter: the owner of this assisted living facility says she was in her kitchen cooking when all of a sudden the frying pan caught on fire, forcing four disabled or elderly patients and their caretakers out of the home. the fire started just before 12:30. nearly 30 firefighters rushed to the scene and helped four patients to get out. fire officials say crews tore through some of the walls in the kitchen to make sure the fire didn't reignite. mark brady says three of the four disabled residents were taken to the hospital for precautionary measures, but says no one was injured. >> the fire grew in intensity enough to the point that the residential sprinkler system activated. we had to shut off the to the home. >> reporter: the owner of this business says she is working on securing a hotel for her patients so he'she'll be able te there along with the caretakers. coming up at 5:00, we'll tell you what fire investigators say they found when they ente

meagan fitzgerald was in court today and heard the testimony from one of the victims. >> reporter: leoness stand, first taking questions from the prosecution, then being cross-examined by the defense. leo fisher says he remembers the moment andrew schmuhl forces his way inside his mclean home. fisher said schmuhl tased him first, then tied him up before tying up his wife. fisher testified that schmuhl made some bizarre statements, tellingis virginia sec, and accused him of using work e-mail to place a bounty on him by a drug cartel. schmuhl started questioning him about his wife alicia, who was fired from fisher's law firm. quote, didn't you let someone go recently? fisher said he fired alicia because of poor performance in october of 2014 and told the jury months earlier he sent her home early from work because of misconduct. fisher says after being questioned for hours inside his home, quote, the next thing i know he knocked he over backward. he put the pillow on me and cuts my throat and starts stabbing me. fisher said his wife started screaming and schmuhl brought up a gone and he

meagan fitzgerald is along the parade route now. what's the scene like there behind you? >> reporter: there are people all along these roads here. as you can see behind me, we are told by organizers there are some 200,000 people who are lining constitution avenue here. people from all over the country and across the world as well wanting to be part of the larges you're looking at veterans from desert storm. they are just one of the groups that are going to be celebrated here and recognized. it is the 25th anniversary since operation desert storm. what made this particular parade even more special is that hundreds of gulf war veterans are reuniting at the parade, making it the largest reunion event since 1991. we want to show you some of the video that we shot earlier this afternoon. military history as far back as the american revolution was represented. marching bands are remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice as well. there was a moment of silence held. everyone has a different reason for being out here. some are very personal, but everyone we spoke with say

. >> meagan fitzgerald is live in spotsylvania county. >> reporter: pat and chris, right now spotsylvania county deputies are working to get some of the answers to some of those questions that they have in this investigation, but joshua williams was arrested just after 1:00. we're told that his 3-year-old son zion and his ex-girlfriend are both doing last night at around 7:00. they say william and his ex-girlfriend were driving blocks away from cleveland court when they started arguing. william severely beat the woman before driving off with their 3-year-old son zion, who was in the backseat. >> we determined that we needed to have an amber alert because it was also determined and discovered that mr. williams had made previous threats to seriously injury or kill the child. >> reporter: jeff pierce with the spotsylvania county sheriff's office says an hour later the vehicle was recovered. this morning 3-year-old zion was dropped off at his grandmother's house by an unknown person. we were there when the child was met by his mother and deputies. we just had an opportunity to speak with depu

meagan fitzgerald was there and has this report. >> mr. williams previous threats to seriously injure or kill the child. >> reporter: investigators say on wednesday night zion's father, 28-year-old joshua williams, severely beat his ex-girlfriend, who is also zion's mother. captain jeff pierce says the assault happened inside a car while the toddler was in the backseat. the mother got out and that's when deputies say williams drove off with zion and an amber alert went out. an hour later, the vehicle williams was driving was found on the 400 block of cleveland court where deputies say he used to live. then this morning zion was dropped off at his grandmother's house. his mother arrived moments later. >> we don't know who dropped the child off at the house, but he was returned to her safely unharmed. >> reporter: our cameras were rolling when zion and his mother were met by deputies who less than an hour later after interviewing several people, investigators were able to arrest william s who was hidin in a home a few miles away. >> surveill

and that is why meagan and i spoke to dozens of women who walked us through those interactions.requently there was a power dynamic at play. this is a very wealthy man with a lot of connections and influence and it's something that i think harbored over a lot of these interactions. >> and this controversy plays into trump's trengt strengths. the media are out to get me. >> if you drill down into the story, you saw a lot of reporting on behavior that was frankly detestable, demeaning to women. if you give somebody like donald trump a small opening, he will drive a truck through it. i think he's managed, at least for his own supporters, to have discredited the story. but i don't think the story is discredited or discreditable. it supported, as the reporter said, the description of the way he behaves and conformed with how he treats women in public and on the campaign trail. >> thank you for coming in and talking about what is obviously an ongoing story and highly critical story of a donald trump and one he oblae did not like. when we come back, our doctors in the u.s. have a landma
