meagan fitzgerald joins us live from d.c. superior court with more on what happened in the court today. >> you may recall that it was dna taken from pizza crust that led police to the prime suspect in the first place. today in court, we learned they took hundreds of swabs and out of all of those, five proved positive matches to daron wint's dna. it has been nearly a year and a half since two parents, their 10-year-old son and housekeeper were tortures for hours and then killed before investigators say daron wint set the house on fire and took off in one of the prosecutors urged the judge to set a trial date, but the defense argued that they need more time to test the hundreds of swabs taken from the mansion. the judge agreed with the defense, so yet again, a trial date for wint is still unknown. now, the judge set a status hearing date for february 3rd. at that point, it's possible that we may learn of a trial date, but prosecutors tell us coming up at 5:00, we talk to a homicide detective who tells us just how critical the d

i'm meagan o'halloran. right now an investigation into a device found yesterday in nederlands. and it's closing down a building at this hour. new this morning the fbi the sheriff's headquarters is closed, for a vehicle sweep. this week a suspicious device left outside the nederland marshal's office. preliminary investigations indicate the device was an active ied but failed to detonate. authorities detonated the device in a controlled explosion after determining that they couldn't safely remove it. now federal and state authorities are trying to figure out who planted the device. federal investigators are released a preliminary report on the deadly new jersey transit train crash that happened last month. people who witnessed the crash said that the train didn't seem to try to stop, before it crashed into the hoboken, new jersey station, through a bumping post, and into a wall. but investigators say an emergency brake did happen less than a second before the collision. a woman was killed and 100 track structure, the conductors performance, and signal systems. a ground breaking i

meagan fitzgerald joins us live from d.c. superior court. hi, megyn. it's been over a year since these murders and still a trial date has not been set. the defense argued that they have to go through an abuddance of evidence from the prosecution and it takes time and the judge agreed. it has been nearly a year and a half since sauven and amy suvaup almost and their son and housekeeper were brutally tortures and murdered inside their d.c. home. police to the suspect. >> they got dna off pizza they were eating. >> still no trial date for daron wint. >> you run across a case like this where it will drag on and drag on. >> dwayne stanton is a retired homicide detective for the metropolitan police department. he said part of the rison the case could drag on before going to trial is because of the hundreds of swabs of evidence collected from inside the mansion. >> it takes time to process all of those swabs. >> daron wint was in court judge to set a trial date, but the prosecution told the judge they have collected five items which match wint's dna. though t

meagan fitzgerald is live with more on the investigation. e we understand a lot of metro riders use that lot. >> reporter: a lot of neighbors that live in this apartment complex actually use this pathway here to cut through that parking lot to get to the metro. that's what a a man was doing at around 6:30 this morning. walking towards the metro. and found a woman's body. 911 was called. police arrived on scene. detectives were out here for six hours trying to figure out who this woman is. but the problem is they still don't know. here's what they told us. she's an adult. she's a white woman with a tattoo on her body. rugt now detectives are combing through missing persons records trying to figure out if this woman was reported missing or will be later on tonight. they are hoping to find the cause and manner of the way she died. but at this point, still trying to get all their information together to release an image of that tattoo. so anyone in the community who might recognize that tattoo will come forward and contact the police department

meagan fitzgerald is in rockville with what we about this so far. >> reporter: what we know is that that man was walking up this pathway here from the apartments behind us. it was around 6:30 this morning. he was heading to the metro when he looks over and sees a woman's body lying along the fence line. 911 was called. detectives came on scene and spent six hours out here troying to figure out who this woman was. they still don't know. so right now investigators tell us here's what we can tell you. distinctive tattoo on her body. detectives are combing through the missing persons records. thigh sent her body in and are expecting to know the exact cause of death some time tomorrow. they are not ready to rule out a homicide or natural causes. they are asking anyone with information to contact police department. >> the maryland state highway administration say it is will consider the request to reduce speeds near braveburn parkway. one congressman called on officials to move quickly to complete the study. extra careful about where they park and when. parking enforcement is going to get stri
