megan murphy joins us. congratulations on the impact of your poll.t this, my first question is, did trump go down, or did clinton advance? which is a? megan: it is both, which is what is so fascinating about this poll. what we saw, that margin really blew off in terms of a 12-point gap. what is most fascinating is that we see that hillary supporters are becoming more committed to her, more devoted, more enthusiastic, which has always been the most important thing for her. on the converse, trump's comments about a judge, hispanic heritage of the judge, really hurt him. 55% of people in that poll said they would never vote for him. tom: in your 55% and generally within the poll, what did you learn of independent voters? megan: those people who he may have attracted are actually moving away from him. anyannot take too much from one poll, especially this far out. but of the people that he needs to swing over to his side, those people are not migrating to him anymore and we will see if the dynamic changes. we were in the field when the tragedy and orlando

megan? >> that's right. behind me here you can see that medical facility where this unfolded this morning, a lot of confusion here on joint base andrews a base reported seeing people with long guns on campus, reported an active shooter situation. well, we now know that it was a misunderstanding. there was an active shooter drill that was scheduled for this morning inside that medical facility, it's been scheduled for some time, but obviously not everybody on base received word of that drill, including the person that placed that phone call. however, out of an abundance of caution until they sorted things out, the base was put on lockdown. so they had this drilled scheduled. but then got what they called a real world warning. out of an abundance of caution, they followed their protocols for an active shooter until they could sort things out and figure out exactly what happened. at about 10:30 this morning, that's when they realized the mistake, the all clear was given. we spoke to a man who worked on the base

megan mcgrath is live now with how the repairs are going megan, what can you tell us? >> reporter: i can tell you it's still a mess and that will be the case for several hours. you can see work crews are now starting to dig down to that broken 12 inch water main there, but they haven't started the work of repairing it yet. they have issues shutting down valves, closing valves to shut down the water. so that has slowed things up here. a lot of work still ahead. so we have closure of edsall road between van dorn and south whiting street. now, take a look. this pipe actually broke yesterday afternoon and it was quite a gusher as you can see from this video here. water just creating enormous hole in the middle of the roaded here. gushing down the street. a lot of the apartments scene that a lot of people just have low water pressure at this point, but people at higher elevations may not have water due to the fact that they're up a little higher. so we'll keep an eye on that situation. but as you can see behind me, still a lot of work to be done. they haven't even gotten do

megan. >> reporter: well, good morning.re here at the red cross' national headquarters on e street. if you look behind me, you can see the flag out front flies at the half-staff in honor of the victims. many around the country and here locally are looking for ways that they can help. and many will give blood today. there are four blood drives here locally o crowded. take a look at the locations. you can come here to the donation center on e street, g rockville donation center, the alexandria chapter house, there is also going to be a donation center at the fairfax location on prosperity avenue. all of these taking place beginninging later on this afternoon. the red cross has extra donation trucks, they at the ready on standby in case they are needed because when tragedies like this happen, many people want to help, did what they can even though they're hundreds and thousands of mile away. and giving blood is one way that they can do that. so four blood drives happening in our area later today and we'll have that information

. >> megan, you have a question for john? >> has there been a rise in these kind of shootings and attacks in the past six months or so? >> there's been, well there have basically, there have been ebbs and flows. last year late september, mid october. we really saw an increase in the number of attacks. mostly stabbings, car rammings, the assailants would ram their vehicle up on a sidewalk or a bus stop and get out and start attacking with a knife. since then there have been near daily attempted stabbings, stabbings on mostly border police and security forces along the west bank borders, including hebron. again where these two assailants are according to our sources cousins, that they lived in that area. that's a very hot spot and has been. has there been a rise? again it comes in waves. we'll see things be very quiet for a couple weeks and then a number of attacks. but this, since the new year's day attack has been the worst thus far again a very busy popular area in central tel aviv. a lot of bars and restaurants, a lot of to
