. ♪ >>> good monday morning i am megan pringle.s is your abc2 news to go. >> i am charley crowson late cart with your forecast. here's meteorologist lynette charles. >> as we look at maryland's most powerful radar as of now, we see the rain coming down across the area. but most of the rain back off toward the west and a lot of it coming up on the south. it's pushing off towards the north and east. and we will fill things in more as we go through the remainder of the morning and especially this afternoon. and some heavier rain coming down as we go into the eke. check out temperatures this -- this evening. check out temperatures. mount airy temperatures around 61 degrees right now. and the wind are calm but they will pick up going throughout the day. no type of rainfall totals as of now. but that will begin to add up as well. as we look at towson, the temperature coming in at 63 degrees. and, once again, no type of rainfall totals yet. but the winds nice and light out of the south and again both the rain and winds will pick up as we

abc 2 news megan pringle is is live this morning of the cathedral of mary our queen with a preview of the day's events this. is a huge ceremony, megan. reporter: it's an amazing ceremony, charley. i was here five years ago when it happened with edwin o'brien. william lorie is 60 is years old and he's been leading catholic chumps in bridgeport for years. he's working closely with our archdiocese to get ready for this. today he becomes the 16th arch bishop of baltimore. last night he was introduced and he told a crowd at the basilica that he's looking forward working with all faiths in the baltimore community. >> i look forward to working with interfaith leaders for the common good. i ask that the spirit, the holy spirit will inspire, unify and strengthen us all as we move forward with a strong and an act of faith. reporter: back out here live. as you take a look, they've roped off the area. they have a tent up here so in case it rains they're prepared. but to give you an idea of what a huge event this is going to be, 2000 people have is tickets to attend here. if you do have a ticket,

megan pringle is live at cathedral of mary our queen with the events.s going to be the 16th arch bishop. it happens today when he's installed here at the cathedral of the mary our queen. is huge crowd is expected here, we're talking about 2000 people who have tickets to witness it, including lorie's parents who are coming from kentucky. the official installation begins today. but much of the ceremonies began last night. you're taking a look at some video from the mass of the basilica downtown where lorie prayed at the tomb of the first arch bishop of baltimore, john carroll who continued his -- who started his tenure in 1809. edwin leaves for his new position in rome tomorrow. he will hand over the cross to his successor. last night he introduced william lorie at the basilica. here's what he had to say. >> it's with deep gratitude to our holy father, pope benedict xvi that i welcome arch bishop lorie as the new shepherd of this historic archdiocese of baltimore. i've known arch bishop lorie for many years, i have been very impressed as so many of us hav

megan pringle is out there live i do have one question. are you going to get up on the high wire? >> reporter: i am going try charley. in about a month, here at ripley's believe it or not auditorium basically a museum, it's going to open to the doors in the inner harbor. it's going to be exciting. it's an a toreium us about that's -- auditorium but it's a maim for museum full of stuff. what would be more weird and amazing than walk across the inner harbor. it's going to happen this evening. he is going to attempt to walk 300 feet across the water, the length of a football field and he is doing it without a net or any sort of safety device. he is a 7th generation member of the family and he says he never thinks about falling. it's going to be an exciting thing this evening. and he actually offered to give us a lesson on walking on the tightrope so we are definitely going to try to check it out. we want to show you a picture of what the auditorium looks like when it's all said and done and opens on june 1st. they will have everything in here that is going to make you say believe it
