. >>> thanks, mel, see you in a couple of minutes. just a little snow? our area can make roads slick so from virginia to maryland we have sadly seen hundreds of crashes since this morning. our team coverage continues now with news 4's megan fitzgerald. >> dangerous. i wouldn't say nowhere near safe. >> reporter: there's no doubt about it, snow-packed roads can lead to dangerous driving conditions, even with efforts made to make roads safer for drivers. >> i slid, i have a 4x4 and even slid. >> reporter: several cars slitd off the roadway. but charles county deputies say this one was the worst. investigators say slick conditions caused this driver to slide off the road and into a pole. crews had to cut through the vehicle to rescue the man and his 8-year-old son. deputies say this was the first accident of the day in charles county, but it wasn't the last. >> you don't want to be out here, you shouldn't be out here. go get home, eat at home, enjoy your day with the kids. it's saturday. >> reporter: reporting in southern maryland, megan fitzgerald, news 4.
