showers arriving mendocino and sonoma county probably 5:00 and the chance throughout the evening hours the rain line by ukiah but pushing through santa rosa, 8:00. it's not quite into san francisco but by midnight we're looking at the frontal passage and behind it we see more showers and some colder air. so in the north bay tomorrow morning and even in the east bay, the south bay, look for the possibility of some showers, on isolated thunderstorm and by the afternoon things will quiet down but it will be cool the next several days as this cold air is gonna replace what we have had. it hasn't been too warm in the past couple days. up to an inch of rain in the north bay, especially the mountains. the higher elevations about a 10th of an inch. parts of the south bay could see anywhere from a half to three-quarters of an inch. i talked about the snow a little in the mountains. the first snow since the middle of the month with 2 to 4, 3 to 6 inches, similar around there at lake level and above 7,000 feet anywhere from 6 to 12 inches. keep that in mind if you're headed up to the mountains. r

missing man resumes this morning. 50-year-old john bass disappeared while hunting for mushrooms in mendocino county. he went out new years eve looking for mushrooms in the forest but he never came back. the search included both rescue teams and dogs. >>> just hours ago police released new information on a shooting in east oakland. that happened last night on weld street. police say a gunman opened fire on the victim striking him several times and he suffered critical injuries. police also tell us his condition improved overnight. police are still looking for the gunman. >>> investigators now suspect an arsonist is responsible for a weekend fire that destroyed a motor home in martinez. they came to that conclusion after revealing surveillance camera videos of saturday nights fire. the flames caused major damage to motor home but no onerous hurt. >>> later today the chp will release the final numbers of the new years eve crack down on drunk drivers. they made 873dui arrests. that is down slightly from the same period last year. here in the bay area officers arrested 124 drivers for dui since f

it happened late yesterday afternoon on mendocino avenue. the gunmen stole their wallets and even the luggage inside the trunk of one victim's car. at this point police only have a vague description of the two armed robbers and anyone with any information is asked to call the santa rosa police department. you can see the number there on your screen. >>> pg&e has now restored power to everyone left in the dark in an overnight power outage in alameda county. the lights went out shortly after midnight and at one point some 5000 homes and businesses in san leandro, san lorenzo and parts of hayward were without electricity but they were able to restore power to everyone around 1:30 this morning. the utility traced that problem to a faulty piece of underground equipment. >>> the cable network msnbc has abruptly parted ways with its most popular host. last anaheim keith olbermann told his viewers he has taped his final countdown show and is leaving the network. he did not offer any explanation. msnbc only stated the decision to end his contract had
