menlo park, over 5 inches, willow glen picking up almost four. that was the last 24 hours and that was where the concerns came from. whether it was a midwest storm, an east coast or northeast storm, we got rain in 24 hours and that was historic. for san jose, it now comes down as the third wettest day ever in san jose back to when recordkeeping started, back in the 1800s. the most rainfall in december also. in san francisco, the most 48-hour rainfall in downtown s.f. since january of 2002, some 12 years and 11 months to go, and by my calculations, this was the strongest storm rated by central low pressure since october of 2009. so a lot here with that storm system that moved in, but thankfully it is now moving out, even though we needed that water. you can see the doppler radar right now. we have a few areas of spotty showers lingering from the north bay to the south bay, and that's likely what we'll see continue to linger tonight. down in the south bay, morgan hill, also san martin and gi gilroy, you're still dealing with this isolated storm sys

those exits from about south san francisco all the way down through menlo park got some of the worst flooding reports. in fact, we are still dealing with flooding especially in south san francisco. there was an overturn accident. fortunately they were able to clear it but a traffic alert remains in effect approaching grand avenue. sierra point parkway, all those areas, the right lane is blocked. a lot of standing water still in the roadway. it's jammed up for a good mile behind it. so if you are heading to sfo, you may want to use that long way around 280 to 380. all lanes open as frank and michelle just mentioned in menlo park both directions now southbound and northbound. they were closed overnight due to flooding. seeing slight delays in the northbound lanes but all lanes are clear. caltrans got the pumps out and they cleared all the water out. flooding is a problem marin county westbound 37 between atherton and 101 cars being diverted off the road at the atherton exit. a few spinouts on the roads, as well. take it slow. you can see the wet pavement at the bay bridge toll plaza. m

on the left, menlo park. on the right, fremont. slow, soggy commute home on both sides of the bay. chief meteorologist jeff ranieri is here with a look at what the status of this storm is now. >> the good news for this storm system is it's moving in and out rather quickly compared to the past two storms we've had this week. so that will help with some of our flooding concerns. but that ground is still saturated so anyone doing any traveling throughout the bay area tonight, please be very careful of these dangerously slick roads. you can see across highway 101, 280, redwood city, palo alto, los altos, heavier pockets of rainfall. now winning to move into cupertino and sunnyvale. heavy rain across san jose. santa clara, we have heavier rainfall moving right through downtown san jose by 66:05. another heavy rainfall expected there. across the tri-valley, pockets of heavier rain on 680 and 580. likely for the next 45 minutes. north bay, the last branch of this storm system, the final edge, is now starting to move in. so hopefully this storm system will begin to move out the next couple
