now let me bring in michael hastings. he has been covering the president for buzz speed and he is, of course, also the author of "the operators" and contributing editor at rolling story. a busy guy. michael, let's start. >> i like to maintain illusion of being very, very busy. >> okay. so, number 1, you are now with the obama administration's campaign. right? you are covering that? so give me a sense of: is the campaign aware of these issues? and are they worried, or are they over-confident? >> oh, sure. i spent last week out in chicago at the -- interviewing obama officials at his headquarters there and it's quite at sweet set-up they have. but clearly, there is a sense a, that mitt romney is going to raise about $700 million and they are going to have to gin up the same kind of enthusiasm in 2012 that they had in 2008. and because as you have mentioned, that grassroots support, that grass roots enthuseiasm isn't there, they are having to go to donors and say, look, nobody is perfect. the president is not perfect. but we
