abc news reporter michelle franson has the latest. >> ladies and gentlemen, a moment of silence for theictims of the landslide. >> people across washington paused, and for the first time since the mountain blew an avalanche of mud and debris on the community below, at 10:37:00 a.m., one week ago saturday, all activity at the site halted. >> they have identified one more victim, bringing the total of confirmed fatalities to 18. we also know that rescuers discovered one additional victim in the debris field. that victim has not yet been identified. >> brenda neil got the news she was dreading about her husband, steve. >> i screamed and i cried and my daughter, we wrapped ourselves up together and just cried about how it's not fair. >> families side by side with search crews sifting through mounds of mud again and again. >> this has a toll on everybody. there is no one out here that hasn't been touched by the magnitude of what is going on. >> they are filling black bags with personal items, wallets, pictures, safes, anything they kept in their homes and taking them to centers for processin

here's abc news reporter michelle franson. >> the wall of mud, trees, rocks and debris came crashing down just before 11:00 a.m. saturday. estimated to be a mile long, the mudslide completely blocked rural state route 530 near the town of oso, just north of seattle. >> i was the third car behind a truck and with a boat. that's when i just saw it was washing everything off the road. and i'm not sure if the truck made it through. >> at least six homes were destroyed. three people were killed. at least half a dozen others, including a six-month-old infant, were taken to local hospitals. search crews are looking for other possible victims. >> we are busy trying to sift through the debris field, which is fairly large. we are looking for victims and survivors at this time. we are still in a search and rescue mode and hoping for the best. >> that road is closed. everybody is being evacuated. >> residents downstream from the mudslide have been urged to evacuate because of the potential for catastrophic flooding of the river. officials believe the landslide was the result of heavy rain satura

. >> michelle franson, abc news, new york. >> the family and friends of a pleasant hill teenager who was put into a coma after a skateboarding accident are raising money for his medical care. 18-year-old ryan carroll was skateboarding in santa bash are you when he fell and hit his head. he suffered a skull fracture and swelling to the brain and is in a millionly-induced coma. he graduated last spring and was in santa barbara attending a community college. he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. a website has been set up by the family for donations to help cover his medical expenses. >>> new this morning, fresno place say an adult's decision to perform cpr on two babies who nearly drown may have saved both lives. the one-year-old boy and girl were taken to a hospital yesterday after falling into a fishpond at an apartment complex. police say the kids were playing in a rear patio with other children when they got out of a fenced-in area and fell into the water. authorities also say someone found them underwater and started what is called rescue breathing until help arr
