kate middleton stepped out with camilla for a public lunch in london.od morning, ann. you know, there are plenty of private places where camilla and kate could have had lunch, but instead, they chose a very public restaurant at a fancy london hotel where they knew they were going to be seen and maybe even overheard. the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law can be, in a word, complicated, but wednesday inside london's berkeley hotel, it was all smiles. and according to witnesses, wedding talk and some advice. >> when they arrived, of course, the whole restaurant was looking towards this table. they knew it, everybody knew it. >> reporter: the two were joined by kate's younger sister, pippa, likely to be the maid of honor, and laura, camilla's daughter from her first marriage. for kate middleton, this is a new experience.s particular one to suit her. she's very familiar with this area, as he is, because they haven't had to come very far. in fact, to perform this function. he's based at the air base just up the road where he's a helicopter pilot, and she's been spending time with him at their house not far from that state. so this opportunity was really perfect, as a first trial run, first exposure. they're often seen around in this community. they know some of the people here. the people are used to having them around. and a crowd of, i would say, 300, 500, maybe a little more than that, very remote and small little town, has come out to welcome them. there was some concern today, i must say, because it is so breezy here, for the moment, but it's been halling here all day, as to what that would do to kate's wardrobe, and kate's hair. but it seems like she's got it pretty carefully tucked away there, and is learning some of the tricks of the royal trade. >> all the important things have been taken care
