mike, let me start with you.ld we think about -- what happened to twitter over the weekend, which it really started to just really feel like it was breaking down. they hadn't done a lot, they fired all their staff, breaking down -- they poured over tens of millions of people. what does this mean? >> your point on the weekend, just kind of what's falling apart, it's exactly right. we did some reporting over the past week, and basically elon musk pulled this removed it made twitter unusable for a lot of people across the site, and threads it was actually supposed to launch in late july. zuckerberg basically pulled out all of the stops, saying that we need to launch this right now. it's a little imperfect right now, people are running into bugs, sign up problems. basically elon musk was -- i mean, he kind of made these claims that they were bots scraping his platform. he's got this paranoia about other sites stealing twitters data. he really shot himself in the foot in a way that made plate people want a twitter alt

now we speak with mike. >> i was taking a look at halliburton. we mentioned this last week when someone asked us about natural gas which of course did not actually really rally today. if we do see cooling demand that could increase a natural gas demand. halliburton would be the way to play it if you choose. they are heavily exposed to domestic production. the company is cheap. if they can live up to the eps that we are talking about. basically taking a look at capital return in the neighborhood of $950 million per year between basically share purchases and dividends. i think they will report earnings on july 19th. right now options are as cheap as they have been since the pandemic. i was looking at the 3440 in september. i was looking at that earlier today. about $2.40 per contract. your mileage may the -- may vary a bit. i think if you are inclined to be a long national gas, this is the way to do it. >> halliburton has underperforming shown recently, but a big day today. >> brian, what do you think? >> the fed might not stick the landing on infl

mike, are you updating this one? >> yeah. i think we need to i mean, first of all the trade that we recommended where the july 145 calls are now comfortably in the money i think we recommended those when they were less than 2 bucks a contract they were $5.50 a contract when i look at the closing prize today, so i think it would certainly make some sense if you're only looking out to the end of july to roll those up i think you should actually roll those up and out to the september 150s i own calls in rsp in september. i also own rsp on this thesis, and i'm long puts on spy and the triple qs playing th thesis that carter is talking about. it's interesting if you think about, you know, some other prices that we can think about other than just the fact that these have underperformed, rsp, not that fundamentals are a good timing tool for trading. they aren't. but i think it's alway important to have some context and the fact is that the equal weight a s&p 500 is trading at a discount to a multi-decade average in terms of earnings

mike, what is your thought here? >> i am inclined to agree with that it's difficult having seen how far technology has come this year to be thinking about buying anything in the space. i can admit to that but the thing is, alphabet is still reasonably priced. if we actually take a look at it relative to free cash flow, relative to earnings, it's about the same price as the market, probably in the case of its free cash flow yield it's significantly cheaper. yet it's growing e.p.s. and free cash flow at a much faster rate. if you compare it to -- let's just take microsoft and meta, two other companies that have done better this year -- since 2018, these are companies that have probably grown the top line at comparable amounts i would say alphabet has been growing their free cash flow and e.p.s. better and trades cheaper. so i rather like it going into earnings if you're looking for something that's arguably more of a value play in the space, this is it. >> yeah, and there aren't many value plays in the space brian, wha

admiral mike gilday: your first question is about what steps we are trying to take. i think the most important steps are to recognize that the current strategic environment is favored with the united states being able to operate, engage, with more and more partners. it creates a greater sense of balance at the strategic level and much more uncertainty with potential provocateurs. i think that these steps are very strategically sound. they are steady, i believe that they are bipartisan. there may be a group of people now that talk more about just the united states acting alone. i think there is a proud tradition and a partisan tradition that recognizes that the united states is most effective when we operate and engage with other partners. you cannot predict every scenario in the future. i would scarcely -- i will not have any doubts about positing that the ability to operate much more effectively and create confidence that the united states is a stabilizing force and we want to be associated with them, that has to be overall beneficial to the peace and stability. i f
