bill: mike baker good to have you in today. the story is ongoing to viewers at home.n mark for viewers at home. martha: america's so-called puppet sheriff is denying allegations of discrimination. arizona sheriff joe arpaio testifying in court in the class action lawsuit against him that claims that he and his department are racially profiling latinos. william la jeunesse joins me live. what happened this court with the sheriff? >> reporter: an aclu attorney hammered arpaio for hammers on the stand using the sheriff's own media appearances to show that he encouraged discriminatory policies. frequently with one-word answers he admitted saying his department had become quote a full-fledged anti-illegal immigration agency, and that the crime suppression patrols were quote, a program to go after illegals and not crimes first. those admissions they say support their contention that the sheriff's speech became discriminatory policy on the street. >> we believe that the sheriff's testimony along with the other testimony in this case show that the sheriff's department even ga

mike baker, thank you for your time. here is martha.mation where the economy is concerned, more workers joined the federal disability ranks in june than got new jobs. that is a sorry situation. take a look at this graph. the economy created only 80,000 jobs last month, okay. but 85,000 people left the workforce entirely to enroll in the disability program. what is going on here? liz joins us now with the details. liz, you know, why are so many more people disabled than were 20 years ago, for example? >> reporter: well, maybe it's easier to say, why are so many more people disabled, martha, than since the financial crisis started. it does lead to the big question, are these people really disabled, or are they looking at social security disability benefits as sort of the insurer of last resort, the paycheck of last resort? you have seen these numbers have jumped exp within the past couple of years. there is a little bit of history to be had here. you have the disability benefits recovery act back in 1984 that made it a lot easier under pr

mike baker is a former c.i.a. covert officer and he joins us now with more. for joining us. >> thank you. >> heather: so the opening ceremonies were last night. the games are underway. what, in your opinion, has been the biggest problem so far? >> i think the biggest problem they've had is probably the one that's been most publicized. u.k. government hired a company called g 4 s, quite a while ago. you can imagine the preparation for these olympics, particularly in a venue like london, it's been years in the make. so they hired this security company to provide a little over 10,000 trained and vetted, very important, vetted secured guards work the perimeter, the access points the controlling of the access to the games. well, shortly before the games actual lea kicked off, g 4 s turned around and said we're not going to be able to meet the contract and currently only provided about 6,000 or so of those guards. what they're doing now is they're rushing, they're trying to get all these guards vetted and signed up and put out there. so you can imagine the security
