i'm mike hydeck. we're under a red alert. the winter ather is here. the question is how much snow are we in for and when will it leave? we have a team of meteorologists here. we start with chief meteorologist topper shutt. >> i'll tell you what. the scary thing is this is not even the heavy snow. the heavy snow will develop in the next hour and continue through the afternoon. let me show you where the snow is now. we'll widen out the radar just a little bit. you can see a good amount of snow around the immediate metro area and another batch back into the southwest of us, out toward west virginia and kentucky. that's really the center of the storm. we'll actually take a track much different than the last few clippers. the last few clippers tracked north. this will track south off a pretty good spot, about cape hatteras and move northeastward. not going to hug the coast and hammer us but give us a good, healthy snow. we'll doom in a little bit more. we see a good area of snow around most of the mets toe area, -- metro area, up 270. had reports of breaks
