good morning to mike inouye. >> good morning. we're looking to a great drive through fremont, southbound side with the headlights fast truck scales to mission boulevard. you do see a good number of cars not causing a lot of slow, the speed sensors show all green. that's a great flow. even mission boulevard showing pretty much close to the surface street limit. top of the screen came down to about 59, 58 miles per hour for the yellow. so the build causing a bit of a slowdown. the northbound route through san jose look good, 85 off to saratoga, left side of the screen, shows slowing, the upper 50s at the worst. that will shift down, compress between 17 and saratoga the next few minutes. here northbound 101 shows a slowing, one patch at capital expressway, north of 680. that's a typical pattern. north 87, smooth drive slowing from capital clamping down on speeds into downtown san jose. toward the bay bridge approach, the east shore freeway moves slower through richmond and berkeley. live look at the toll plaza shows you the backup a

mike inouye is watching all of the roads for you letting you know about hot spots. >>> investigators are looking into what caused a police dog to attack its handler. this happened yesterday afternoon when the dog attacked the police officer from the back seat of the squads car. the officer was able to pull over and get the dog under control. the officer suffered injuries to his face and hand. the canine was taken to a kennel where it is being monitored. police will decide if the canine will undergo more training. >> b.a.r.t. is teaming up with its sister agency in china. yesterday b.a.r.t. directors approved a plan to affiliate with shanghai metro. both will work together to try to find solutions on how to move lots of people during rush hour. they are also exploring smart car technology and advanced train control systems. a final agreement will be voted on by board members from both transit agencies. >> the winner for a popular contest in the peninsula to help create new state laws will be announced today. the announcement will be made this morning at 10:00 in front of millbrae mill

here is mike inouye. >> we're looking here off of a three-day weekend.sday, seeing a burst of traffic kicking in. look likes after the holidays, folks getting back to their schedule. for are now we're looking at the south bay with a good volume of traffic. north on 101 all the way up past san jose international airport, into the 40s at times you see the orange. same for north 87 and north 85 building over the last ten minutes. this is a typical pattern. the volume of traffic coming back here. counter commute southbound 101 at 237, earlier crash involving a bus and truck, no injuries reported. looks like traffic is flowing. watch west 237 toward the interchange. that might be the distraction causing more slowing as you pass by matilda into the area. we'll track that in the traffic center and southbound 880, off the 238 into union city, typical pattern there, north 238 and west 580, a couple of crashes there earlier and that's causing all of this backup out of castro valley. sounds like all lanes are clear. you might have a distraction because of the activ

right now let's get you out the front door on a good noxt mike inouye, what are you watching? >> the cars just a few of them on the road. it's monday, we're easing into the commute. 520 in the morning. this is what we see for the south bay. road crews clearing from the major interchanges. that's good news. there has been no major slowing as the crews clear from around the bay. the peninsula drive, no outstanding anything other than green aside from here in the tri-valley. we'll talk about your slowing which is predictable out of the altamont pass to the dublin interchange, the east bound side of 580 a build, dipping below 60 miles per hour. not a big concern as far as the flow. out of the area, past grant line and in toward livermore and the reason for the slowing is all of that company you have. up in antioch west on highway 4, mild slowing. it's been there all morning. we'll watch for that heading over to love ridge and pittsburg and bay point. live look outside, we'll show you the north bay. it's smooth and as well as the peninsula, no delays through palo alto. back to you.
