according to the grand jury report, back in march 2002 graduate assistant mike mcqueary saw jerry sanduskyshower of the main football building sodomizing a boy he estimated to be 10 years old. this is the main incident we've been hearing about. but according to mcqueary's own account he saw the act in progress and apparently did nothing to stop it. he did not intervene, did not shout. he did not go directly to police. the next day mcqueary told joe paterno. the next day paterno met with school officials curley and schultz. later the same month penn state president graham spanier approved of the minor action taken against jerry sandusky. but there is no evidence any of these people tried to identify the 10-year-old boy. there was apparently no attempt to contact him, get his side of the story, see if he needed medical attention. the graduate assistant, mike mcqueary-s now an assistant football coach at penn state who was hired in 2003. joining me now is former district attorney of lawrence county, pennsylvania, matthew mangino. mr. mangino, good to have you with us tonight. >> thanks for ha

what exactly did mike mcqueary do and which of two stories is to be believed. michael isakoff is live for us in state college, pennsylvania. good morning. >> good morning, thomas. there's some new dromts on the mcqueary front today. nbc news has learned that just weeks after he says he saw jerry sandusky sexually assaulting that young boy in the penn state locker room, assistant coach mike mcqueary was participating with sandusky at a charity football game right here in center city for the easter seals. and then just a couple of months after that, mcqueary participated in sandusky's annual golf tournament fund-raiser for the second mile, the chart that he founded. and the year after that, mcqueary again played in that sandusky fund-raiser, so all that is going to raise new questions about mcqueary's account. if he saw as he alleges, sandusky essentially sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy and was horrified by this, why is he playing football with sandusky at a charity football game just a few weeks later? why is he participating in his golf tournament? again,
