and for mike pence, i think mike pence is taking on a bit of the institutional role of president, that the actual president has given up. donald trump's long since stopped doing the job of president. he's only concerned about himself. he's bunkered in the white house, fuming, trying to figure out how to strike back at his enemies. help his friends, through pardons and that sort of thing. he's not -- he's not performing the duties for the nation. mike pence, just to take one small example, he is going to attend the inauguration, which president trump is not going to do. when the insurrection happened at the capitol and there had to be communication with the pentagon, about getting the national guard out, it was mike pence doing the communicating, not president trump. and as you noted, president trump has not reached out to mike pence. so, everything is a one-way street with donald trump. but he sort of removed himself, in effect, from the presidency. and everyone else is trying to prevent anything untoward happening, the last, you know, ten days of the administration. >> and that's obvi

that's what happened with mike pence. turn on pence if he upheld his constitutional duty. pence decided to do that any way. when he did it, the president attacked him afterwards. what donald trump is now feeling about mike pence is not empathy over the fact that people were threatening to hang mike pence. it's rage that he didn't do what donald trump wanted. that's when the white house finally put out a statement on this subject in the name of a deputy press secretary, it did not even include mike pence's name. it said we decry threats of violence against any member of the administration. that shows the mind it and illness of president trump. >> it doesn't even come from the president, doesn't come from the press secretary, and it doesn't mention mike pence's name. it was like a rogue statement that could have been issued by an intern at the white house, and that's probably offending interns. it's remarkable, and it's hard to be astonished at this point. now you have mike pence not ruling out an effort to invoke the 25th

that's correct mike pence has indicated that he is not sympathetic to the 25th amendment and regardless of what you take to the 25th amendment his involvement is necessary so that it's possible for mike pence and a majority of the existing cabinets to vote in favor of invoking the 25th amendment or for congress to pass a law specifying a different group that could vote by majority to invoke the 25th amendment but either way mike pence is involvement is necessary and he is very firmly indicated that he will not side with this effort so this is one more symbolic what we're about to see in the next few hours i do think it serves primarily a symbolic function and perhaps serves the function of building up a little bit of a head way towards the impeachment vote which very likely could come on wednesday tomorrow it appears that the house is going to vote one article of impeachment which is incitement to insurrection and we all know that that there cannot be a trial in the senate or will not be a trial in the senate intil after january 20th so this will not be an impeachment that could possibl
