molly henneberg live at the white house with more. the state department is warning americans now about travel in the wake of all of this unrest. what can you tell us about the alert? >> hi. leeland mentioned it. this is breaking in the past hour. the state department warning americans about travel to a couple of places telling americans to get out of a couple of hot spots because of demonstrations in and around u.s. embassies. let's go first to tunisia. the state department saying do not go there. warning against all travel to tunisia at this time. this after ordering all nonemergency embassy staff out of the country yesterday. the state department says americans should get out on a commercial flight and leave the country. yesterday protesters scaled the walls of the embassy compound, damaged building, cars, set fire to a gym and an american school. thankfully all personnel are safe and accounted for. let's go to sudan. ed state department ordered all nonemergency personnel and all family members of staff to leave the country. warned

molly henneberg has more. what argument did the democrats make to the judge that convinced him to conclude that the law was unconstitutional? >> hi, rick. first, the law would have ended the early in person voting on the friday before a tuesday election, except for military personnel and ohioans living overseas. lawyers for the obama reelection campaign argued that it wasn't fair to stop voting. for some people, meaning servicemen and women, but not for overrules the judge agreed and told ohio that the state could not implement that law. in response, the obama campaign put out a statement saying, quote, we're pleased the court agreed to restore equal and fair access to early voting. they said people of ohio overwhelmingly expressed their desire to preserve the system which was so successful in recent years. on the other side, lawyers for the state of ohio had argued that the local boards of election need those last three days to prepare for the big election day. rick? >> rick: is there a possibility that the o

molly henneberg is live for us in washington with more on this. hi, molly? >> hi. the president's reelection campaign says it's, quote, pleased with the court's decision. but the state of ohio is planning to appeal the judge's ruling and that appeal likely will be filed on tuesday. for now, a federal judge is telling ohio that it cannot implement its law that ends early in person voting three days before an election. except for the military and ohioans living overseas. the obama campaign and democrats challenged that law, saying in part that it valued some voters over others and would hurt low income and minority voters. one ohio democratic law maker said he had been concerned that the law would, quote, limit people's annual to vote -- ability to vote. >> unrestricted right to vote. if you're a registered voter, you shouldn't have any public official standing in the way saying, well, we're going to cut your hours, we're going to make it more difficult to vote. the court decision, i think, finally put that to rest. >> ohio's attorney general and its secretary of sta

molly henneberg joins us live from washington. lly the defense secretary said the surge did what it needed to do. what does he mean? >> he means the troops went in, they helped with the ongoing transition from nato-led security to after fan-led security and they are out on schedule. that's what secretary leon panetta says. he went on in a statement to say that the last surge troops leaving afghanistan, quote, is an opportunity to recognize that the surge accomplished its objectives of reversing taliban momentum on the battlefield and dramatically increased the size and capability of the afghan national security forces. secretary panetta says the 68,000 american troops still in afghanistan remain in a quote, tough fight, and he says the full transition to afghan control will be complete by the end of 2014 when the u.s. and other in it tow allies plan to pull out the rest of the troops. martha: i mentioned in the introduction, molly that green on blue violence that we have seen so much of. the defense secretary has had a bit of a dif

president obama is fresh off that celebrity fund-raiser and this morning, brand-new poll numbers, molly hennebergod morning, gretchen. there is a new poll from the "wall street journal" owned by the parent company of this network and although this race may come down to a handful of states, these national polls are a national snapshot of how the country feels right now. this one out today has the president ticking up a bit. it's a poll of registered voters and it shows the president has a six point lead. 50-44% in this "wall street journal" poll. that's up from the 4 point lead that he had last month. this poll was taken after the attack in libya last week. but before governor romney's comments on people being dependent on government. in the right track wrong track question, 55% of registered voters say america is on the wrong track. 39% say it's on the right track. that's a 7 point increase since august. as for what the candidates are doing today, today the president will be at the white house. he and the vice president had a meeting here with secretary of state hillary clinton. governor romney w
