mona was key in getting that information out. but it's also a story, and this is something that we try to do a lot of at the imprints, a story about many other kinds of issues. it's a story about immigration, because she was someone who her family fled iraq because of what was going on with saddam hussein. she came from a family of activists, and they fled only to come here, of course, and, you know, one of the most memorable events of her childhood is when she saw these images of iraqi kids being poisoned by saddam hussein, you know? and then she comes here, she becomes like an activist pediatrician, like, well before the water crisis working in flint which is, you know, a majority black city, one of the poorest cities in the country. and then to discover that the government here was poisoning or allowing the poisoning of its children just like in iraq. so you start to see similarities of how power operates in different places. and so it's telling a much broader or story but also about how communities can come together and fight
