right now the coast guard is searching for a missing family off the coast of monterey. good morning, i am kristen sze. the coast guard says a man and young and two children were on a sailboat that was taking on water 65 mile off the monterey coast. he radioed the coast guard at 5:30 and now we have the latest from the coast guard station. >> it has been a nonstop search for the group of four. a husband and wife and their four-year-old son and his young cousin. they made a group of distressed calls that the engine stopped working and the boat was taking on water and he had to abandon the sailboat. since then 18-hour search has been underway. the coast guard says it is a long time to search but they are treating it as a rescue mission not a recovery mission. they have all assets out in the sea and in the sky using five aircraft, four boats off the monterey coast. the sailboat did not have a working g.p.s. or an emergency radio beacon. that device would have pinpointed their position for rescue. the boat did not have life rafts. the coast guard said they may have tried to
