west of monterey when they call for help yesterday afternoon.on the search. >> we are approaching 16 hours since the last three of traffic was receive from the boat. they continue to have resources out there searching the waters off of monterey. there's new information that the coast guard release the name of the boat the charm below. they're asking if the public knows anything about the boat are who owned that boat to please let them know because they do not have any information. around 420 yesterday afternoon is one they receive the first radio call from the boat. an hour later was the last three of traffic when they stated they were abandoning ship. they made eight life raft out of coolers. lots of resources and to surge, helicopters, airplanes, of the air national guard as well as the coast guard is all looking for them now. we had a chance to talk to the coast guard earlier this morning >> the coast guard received a call from a boat that they were taking on water. about an hour after five this morning we received a report that they were goi

that call came in from 60 miles west of monterey on sunday afternoon. officials say they had choppy conditions at that time. the family of four had little to cling to. >> they had a cooler and a life ring and they would try and put them together to make a life raft because they had to abandon ship. authorities believe they are looking for a man, a woman, and two small children. they do not have their names. i asked about the survivability at this point with the water at 40 to 50 degrees. a spokeswoman said they calculate that based on size and they don't have any of that information. they have not talked about when they will suspend the search but they plan to intensify it as soon as the sun comes up and they will launch the helicopter to have one more vantage point. >> thank you. as amy mentioned the c130 plane will be leaving shortly to search for the boaters who are missing and they will be taking off from sacramento and of course we will bring that to you when we get that available. >> right now, we will move on to the developing news from oakland o

they were on a sailboat 65 miles west of monterey bay. alex savage has new information from the coast guard. >> reporter: good morning, this search is going on nonstop throughout the night and i spoke with a spspokesperson who confirmed to me they have had two cutters in the water overnight and two aircraft. they are trying to find any sign of this family including two children. the sailboat reportedly started taking on water and the coast guard received a mayday from a boat named charm glow. they were trying to fashion a raft and they were trying to ditch the sinking boat. >> they are abandoning ship. >> reporter: this has been a frustrating search since the coast guard at this point has been unable to figure out where this boat was coming from or going to and they don't know who exactly was on boat. there are no reports of a missing boat at this point and has not been able to trace a boat with the name charm glow. still searchers done think it was a hoax. >> we don't think four people were in distress and that's why we are throwing all

right now the coast guard is searching for a missing family off the coast of monterey. good morning, i am kristen sze. the coast guard says a man and young and two children were on a sailboat that was taking on water 65 mile off the monterey coast. he radioed the coast guard at 5:30 and now we have the latest from the coast guard station. >> it has been a nonstop search for the group of four. a husband and wife and their four-year-old son and his young cousin. they made a group of distressed calls that the engine stopped working and the boat was taking on water and he had to abandon the sailboat. since then 18-hour search has been underway. the coast guard says it is a long time to search but they are treating it as a rescue mission not a recovery mission. they have all assets out in the sea and in the sky using five aircraft, four boats off the monterey coast. the sailboat did not have a working g.p.s. or an emergency radio beacon. that device would have pinpointed their position for rescue. the boat did not have life rafts. the coast guard said they may have tried to
