monterey county is under a flood warning until further notice. we're looking at new video from overnight of the salinas river. there was no roadway flooding when this was filmed, but the water is still very active and crews are handling the situation as best they can on the roads. but take a look at what we captured from nbc bay area's sky ranger yesterday. broken levies, water everywhere along highway 68 and the farms there. now, data from the salinas river tells us the river saw minor flooding yesterday, around 23 feet. as of early this morning, it was one foot above that, 24. now, the national weather service predicts that around right now the river could rise to just under 25 feet, which puts it in the minor flooding category. the monterey county sheriff's office has warned residents of potential road closures like highway 68, possibly highway 1. we will keep updated on that. the north bay, the russian river in guerneville is around 25 1/2 feet as of this morning. minor flood stage is 32 feet. now, earlier this morning i was reporting that th

the sheriff in monterey county is advising red residents to leave before it's too late. ktvu james torres live at the moss landing harbor just ahead of another very rainy weekend. james. yeah, i got a good morning to you. people around here will be waking up to new evacuation warnings. those warnings are stretching from up here near the marina by modulating down a couple of miles over to the monterey dune road that leads to a number of neighborhoods of homes right along the coast. it's not evacuation orders have already been in effect, people. who live in low lying areas near the salinas river have already been told to get out now. that's because levels of the salinas river are far past its flood stage, and emergency officials expected to keep rising. they worry those waters can flow onto places like highway one, and 68, which are basically the only two access points to get to the monterey peninsula. in fact, the national weather service predicts about 90,000 acres of land in this area faces the threat of disastrous flooding, the sheriff says. everyone needs to heed to a
