begin with monty francis. >> reporter: we do expect the prime minister to address the report that the flight was hijacked but it does not appear if he will answer any questions. an official told the associated press that no motive has been established and it's not clear where the plane was taken. but this official told the ap that the hijacking was no longer a theory, staying it is conclusive. this was an anonymous official who spoke to the ap and who was not cleared to speak to the media. but this official said one of the pilots or someone with flying experience hijacked flight 370 and steered it off course. the official said there are indications that the plane's communications were switched off deliberately and that the plane appeared to be steered in such a way to avoid detection by radar. the 777, which had 239 passengers and crew on board, lost communication with the ground about an hour into its flight on march 8 from kuala lumpur to beijing. radar signals appear to show the plane climbing to 45,000 feet after it disappeared from radar. the plane then turned west and informatio
