one helicopter taking it back to half moon bay. kron 4's rajy k was there -- reggie kumar was there. >> reporter: 6:30 p.m. on monday, officials say the company in charge of the recovery process hoisted the boat off the farallon island. this is video of the operation. it was done with this helicopter. the crew landed in a separate helicopter ahead of the boat that half moon bay airport. the yacht weighs 15,000 pounds and 30 feet long. the mast had to be cut off and traveled less than 30 miles to the half moon bay airport. you can see how it is dangling by one large cable. the boat was lowered on to a long bed of a tractor-trailer. officials tell me the recovery process went smoothly and there was minimal impact to the island. the boat will stay that airport over night. it is not known where it will be taken that is up to the owner. in half moon bay, reggie kumar, kron 4 news. >>> tryingtrying to crack down on massage parlors because residents are complaining about how many illegal activity. kron 4's kate thompson reports the city c

low speed chase arrived at the half moon bay airport just before 7:00 p.m. special helicopter carried the 39 foot sailboat from the farallons islands where it crashed in the rocks during a sailing competition 9 days ago. dozens of local gathered at the airport to witness the salvage operation firsthand. >> quite amazing. such a big helicopter. to carry an entire boat. of that size. >>reporter: seattle base salvage company won the bid to retrieve the boat estimated to cost around 200,000 dollars. operation began hours earlier at the farallons where a dive crew spent hours preparing the boat to be hoisted. it was along the farallons rocky coast where 5 of the 8 crew members of the low speed chase died after big waves caused the boat to roll. given those circumstances spectators couldn't help feeling emotional as the boat made its way toward the airport. >> i couldn't help but feel so sad for the people that were lost. >> thinking of the people who were caught in that. we have a lot of friends who are sailors and you know it's kind of like, it's like a ghost bo
