mrs. clark's home. you can see the 80-year-old projection that goes 21 feet beyond our existing structure. and you can see how that provides certain problems for the uphill properties. and the way, the planning department and this project sponsor has proposed to address it is to use that portion of the lot to build. uphill, downhill, back up to the decks on the tenant faying south and this is the view facing south and we're not in a position where we're blocking anybody's light or air. the light coming from the south is not obstructed to anybody but the neighbors with their decks up above are looking down on this project. so here's an artist rendering of the propose d addition in its form. you see the notch in the building that is adjacent to the ms. levy's property. that is the buildable area. it was the opinion of the planning staff and of this project sponsor that it would not be appropriate for us to project out creating a cave for those windows you see in the darker yellow structure of ms. levy's.

mr. clarke: thank you, mr. garamendi. yesterday i did talk about the great tv ad where the rapper eminem highlighted the grittyness and ingenuity of detroiters that has given us the ability to make some of the finest vehicles in the world. i also mention how that spirit of detroit is really rooted in american values. those values that cherish our god-given rights to life, to liberty, to the pursuit of happiness, i'm not just bringing these up as a constitutional exercise, or as a discussion of american history. if you don't mind, i'd like to share with you, this is really about my dad. my dad would be 100 years old if he were living today. back during the 1930's, during the great depression, he risked everything to immigrate to the u.s. from india. he risked everything to come over here and he was attracted to detroit so we could get a chance to build cars in the ford foundry. the heart he brought to his job was the same heart that transformed the city of detroit into the arsenal of democracy, that helped save this countr

clarke: mr. speaker, i rise today in opposition to h.res. 72. h.res. 72 is basically a solution in search of a problem. the house small business committee already has a long bipartisan legacy of providing oversight and when necessary, calling on government agencies to alter regulatory requirements that adversely affect small businesses. h.res. 72 does nothing to assist small businesses to create jobs, nor does it reduce federal requirements on small businesses. all it does is order committees to do what they already do any way. instead of distracting the american people's attention, with this employ, disguised as a resolution, we should be doing what the american people want from us, which is to focus our efforts on the sorl needed and real job creation measures. we are currently in our fifth week of the 112th congress and the new majority has not brought one bill to the floor that specifically focuses on job creation. how much longer must the job seekers of brooklyn wait before the new majority begins bringing legislation to the floor that prom
