look at mt. tam 2.86. and mt. st. helena at 2.2. guernville over an inch and in many parts of the north bay. in the east bay close to three quarters of an inch, san mateo half an inch, morgan hill about 0.3. the ground is already wet. and we are once again going to take a break seeing not many showers now, but there will be some more as we go into the afternoon. looking at temperatures in the upper 50s and once again highs that will stay in the upper 50s with at times some showers and thunderstorms moving in. here's what to expect. off and on rain. and once again a little bit of sun peeking through. but another round of heavy rain was ponding on the roads and hail possible as we go into this evening. and that may impact the evening commute. widespread heavy rain and some minor flooding will be possible between tonight and early in the morning before this system moves to the east. and there will be yet again another one behind that in time for the weekend. so i'll show you what to expect for the next couple of days. that's coming up

and mt. tam, not expecting any snow there, but a lot of rain. u are trying to dry out from the 8 inches you had earlier this week. mt. diablo is looking snow free. look at mt. hamilton. the computer model is plotting snow there. we may see that coming down into the next several hours and santa cruz mountains, nothing but rain. here is a look at downtown. people trying to get through the showers that continue to stream in. meanwhile, san francisco is all dry. that may not be the case for long. there is another round of scattered showers moving in from the north bay. we have the heavy rain passing through the south bay. in the peninsula, we have some of the showers moving through redwood city and palo alto and approaching sunnyvale. in san jose, we are seeing heavy rain there. approaching morgan hill. in livermore, the showers just moved out. we will have more rain coming into tonight. the christmas eve storm is bringing down chilly temperatures. off and on rain. this will start to wind down tonight and into the day tomorrow. still a slight chance

but how about 8 1/2 inches at mt. tam. ben lomond over 7 inches. guerneville, lower elevations also quite a bit, over 5 inches. mt. st. helena, over 4. berkeley in the hills close to 4 inches. oakland, almost three inches. napa, 2.6. these are storm totals from the rain that starred sunday. sap jose's had 3/4 of an inch with livermore. still tracking rain. spotty, light showers. as we can see from the san francisco shot, rain is back there. let's get a closer look at what's happening in the city. that will be a quick moving shower. and then we'll see things clearing out as we go into the rest of the afternoon. a look at what we are expecting as we go into the south bay. more scattered rain. once again, it's still wet in san francisco. some of the airport delays. it been a major problem because this is one of the busiest travel days of the year. san francisco still has an hour delay. and los angeles all clear. oakland and san jose also not seeing anything more than about 15 minutes. if you're traveling east, another storm system had delays in boston

as you look outside from mt. tamre are some of the warmer cities with san francisco leading at 41. everyone under a freeze warning except for san francisco and the peninsula with numbers 15 degrees colder away from downtown. 30 in oakland. that is a record. 31 in mountain view. 31 san jose. you would have to make it into the mid-20s to see some records in the south bay. morgan hill, i think you would have to go down to 24. it's 29 right now. 34 in half moon bay. and from our roof camera, the cities even colder this morning at 28 santa rosa. napa, novato. fairfield 26. you are about 40 yesterday with the northwest wind. 31 concord and 28 in livermore. so some of your neighborhoods likely could be colder and i continue to see some of your tweets and pictures. it's certainly some of the coldest weather we've seen in quite some time. with the dry air mass in place and no wind at all. low dewpoints and numbers 12 degrees cooler from san jose and antioch. everyone experiencing the cold snap until 9:00. the freeze warning i

let's look at the storm totals we had, mt. tam had 3 inches of rain.nda 1.3 with the hail storm earlier this morning. oakland,.75. livermore close to an inch as well as san francisco and san mateo, palo alto half inch and quarter in san jose. we have a passing shower moving through the south bay. can you tell by the camera there getting a bit dark. it's in the mid-50s now and that's about where we'll stay into the afternoon. a few more of these passing showers. it looks fairly quiet as we look at the big picture all across the bay area but let's zoom into the shower that is moving through the south bay. it is moving fairly quickly and moving down 101. it may make things wet there. as we go into the next few minutes heading towards loss gatos at well. the future cast shows a lot of this will be winding down with one last shot of rain this evening and heading into the day team, mostly sunny and on saturday night into early sunday, there will be yet again more rain moving through and more snow for the sierra with another storm system rolling through and t

mt. tam got up to 4 inches. santa rosa got a little less than 3/4 of an inch. even over near moraga, a little less than that as well. the east bay and the south bay didn't see much in the storm. about a quarter inch or less. even los gatos got about 3/10. santa cruz, over an inch. so it's still coming down right now in some parts of the bay area. and it's light for the most part. and this is going to be just ready for the next round that is expected to move through the next couple hours. in fact, you can see that plume of moisture sitting off the coast. that's our next storm system that is expected to move through as we head to the overnight hours. so your morning commute will be wet. in fact, we'll talk about heavy rain at times. especially for the evening commute. tuesday the rain sticks around. and then for wednesday, we'll dry out just little bit before another storm system pulls back by thursday. we'll time all that out and get you into the christmas eve forecast. we could even be talk about some snow here in the bay area on christmas day. see you in a bit

from mt. tam kind of sets it on a rainy day. before with winds down. livermore has been cool and certainly damp out there. san jose a little sunshine activity for you. temperatures will be on the mild side the next one he will days as the system moves out of the way. high pressure building tomorrow and tuesday a good deal of the high cloud cover. numbers back into the 60s. the next system looks to be a a longer one. we could see a half-inch to inch of rain into thursday and more saturday into sunday. high surf warning. huge waves out there, deadly rip currents that will last until tuesday. the next couple of hours you notice the green dotting the landscape. we have rain from santa rosa, san rafael and vallejo over to the half-hour to the 2:00, 3:00 hour. not much out there. probably not much in san jose. this is what i wanted to show you. we have the outlook that shows the next several days. dry sunday and monday. friday showers. look at that. saturday and sunday. looking pretty good in terms of the rainfall beefing up and then

speaking of breaks, mt. tam looks good with filtered sunshine.or san francisco, the warmest location, but low 40s for you down in san jose where you have more cloud cover, 40 mountain view and the exploratorium camera looks just as nice with temperatures a few spots in the 30s this morning, by noontime low 50s to upper 50s. 4:00 more cloud cover with mid 50s to around 60. overnight tonight we won't be

mt. tam 1.3 inches of rain throughout the duration and guerneville and san ramon over 0.75 and san francisco half an inch and about the same in livermore and little bit less than oakland and san jose only had a 0.25 and hopefully more out of the system and another chance as we head into the weekend. but we do still see there is a chance as the system still spins just to the north of us. once again, the next round of rain approaching san francisco right now. so, keep that in mind as you head out the door. we will have waves of this raining as we go into the morning and early afternoon. some of the heavier stuff may be here by lunchtime. especially in the north bay and then rolling to the. little bit of sunshine peeking out every now and then. breezy wind throughout the day with chilly temperatures and highs only reaching to the 50s. tomorrow looks dry and then another round of rain and sierra snow rolling through. rainfall estimates for what's ahead. its like we could rack up onditional 0.75 f

a look now at mt. tam. once again those low clouds there and mist and drizzle happening as a very weak cold front moves through. in sunol we do have some clouds in spots, but they are some thinner clouds and a little bit higher in the atmosphere, so not really enough to block the sunshine. the radar not picking up on any of this. and the models really didn't pick up on much of this either. so we will still have a slight chance of some spotty rain as that front moves through. and it's going to reinforce this cold air we've already had. take a look at the lows we had this morning. napa did set a new record. it was down to 26 degrees. we were very close in other spots, but no new other records were set this morning. and as we take a look at those temperatures now in the south bay, the warmest temperature is 50 degrees. but because of the clouds and the wet weather farther to the north, it is a bit cooler there. as we drop in on the east bay, livermore now at 45 degrees, it's 50 in castro valley. antioch at 44.

looking at mt. tam, a time lapse show at times skies cleared out and now the clouds are back. we will be in and out of these clouds throughout the morning and early afternoon. and it's all because of this storm system that moved through late last night into this morning. and behind it some very cold air. we're still seeing those clouds left behind and some temperatures that have been struggling to rise today. it's only 42 degrees now in the east bay and san francisco 44 degrees. let's drop in on the east bay where in some spots we've made it to 50 degrees, like in oakland. but it's 4 1 degrees in pleasanton and dublin is at 42 degrees and the peninsula at 48 degrees. look at all the microclimates. you can see in some spots we do have clouds overhead. and then in other spots it's bright and sunny. and our temperatures once again will still be much on the cool side. and well below average for this time of year with the breezy wind only reaching near 50 degrees. we've been talking about how it's been so warm out east and so cool out west. well, finally, finally we've made it to t

we have had over 7 inches of rain on mt. tam and quite a bit for the north bay and a break before the next round moves in and we talked about how cold it will be in the sierra. snow coming down and models show additional two feet of snow in kirkwood and you will have a hard time getting there so the tire chains a requirement and over the next three days, the temperatures going down. mild today and then tomorrow once again a mix of sun and clouds, still fairly mild and then much cooler on christmas eve. the next storm system moves in. and it looks to clear out on christmas day but the future cast there shows us less rain and much colder and snow near 3,000 feet. we'll see if the slnow levels continue to drop and moisture for christmas day. a look at the weekend forecast. highs into the mid-50s on friday. morning temperatures maybe freezing and look at the high on sunday as the next storm system moves in. we'll only see highs around 50 degrees for most of the bay area. let's check in now with mike to see when's happening on the ro
