key milestones related to transportation, the first one was a year ago, when mtc ask for project ideas from the nine counties. we hosted that process here in san francisco. the second process that is now wrapping up is an assessment evaluating each of those projects against our goals for the planning project. we now have the results, and that will be used, along with other considerations, to decide the preferred in business strategy. moving towards the preferred investment strategy is what you want to touch on today briefly. the project performance assessment is something that mtc conducts for all of the projects that are seeking discretionary funding through the regional transportation plan. there are two components to it. for the projects on the more expensive side, greater than $50 million, there is a quantitative where the impacts and benefits are quantified and compared against costs to calculate a benefit to cost ratio. and then a qualitative look at how the project will advance the 10 performance objectives of the plan. the goal of this planning process, testament, is not to rea

i am a member of the mtc working group. i wanted to address -- two issues which were not directly addressed by the previous presentations. i think is -- one is the question of the regional needs analysis. there has been some discussion of how it would appear from the data that san francisco has not done a very good job of producing moderate income housing relative to other low and very little -- low-income housing. that is technically correct with respect to the regional housing needs analysis but i think it is mischaracterizing -- what the rena tells us. it does not speak to existing in that need. a lot of that testimony today graphically represents there is this tremendous amount of on that need in san francisco. the rena address is need for future growth. to address the regional needs and allocate to share that but it does not speak to on that needs in san francisco. the relative on that need - unmet needs exceeds the percentage that is reflected in the performance. the other point is the

the northeast corridor project, as top performers in the original transportation assessment with the mtc. we have a seminal study on 19th avenue transit that we are going to be moving forward with after obtaining a caltrans planning grant. this is for the realignment of the m line, strengthening the connections to daly city bart from 19th avenue, as well as coordination with land development in the area. we have also been working on the balboa park station circulation study where we also obtained a caltrans grant to do a feasibility analysis to improve access to muni, bart, enhance pedestrian safety, and support for a citizen advisory committee to track progress of the station improvement projects. we have a number of ongoing studies and projects including travel management partnerships, octavius circulation studies, bay shore intermodal access the study, western soma neighborhood transportation plan, and major improvements to our forecasting models. we also obtained a trout -- caltrans grant for the bayview hunters point mobility solutions study. this is a seminal effort on how to do mo
