the association of bay area government through abag and the metropolitan transportation commission or mtc, are developing regional strategy called plan bay area to comply with this mandate. ~ the plan requires that most of the a disal 2.1 million people projected to live in the bay area by 20 40 be housed near transit and jobs to discourage the use of cars as their primary means of commuting. san francisco is estimated to build 92,400 more housing units for 280,000 more people and 190,000 more jobs, most in the high tech sector. sb 375 also calls for streamlining the c-e-q-a process for transit priority projects. potentially the entire city of san francisco would be eligible for ceqa exemption. this proposed reduction in scrutiny of development projects could further exacerbate those displacement impacts to existing communities. upwards of 33% of the people living in communities of concern in san francisco or areas where high numbers of renters, low-income households, or non-english speakers could be displaced. over 40 local and regional environmental and community advocacy groups are now

a number of outstanding questions to be answered by the association of bay area governments and the mtc regarding the provisions that are in senate bill 375. and until those questions are answered, we are -- we cannot assess the likelihood of the planning department using the c-e-q-a streamlining provisions that you mentioned. however, we do know that the senate bill 375 provisions are similar to streamlining provisions that already exist, including community plan exemptions, and the class 3 2 categorical exemption processes. finally, regarding funding for transit operations, we have to build public confidence by providing a reliable transportation system that's reliably funded. i have called for our san francisco 2030 transportation task force to report back to me. board president david chiu and sfmta chairman tom nolan with a coordinated set of priorities and actionable recommendations that either by executive order or ordinance or even the ballot will maintain the [speaker not understood] of our streets and make muni and the other transportation systems of our city work the way they

the mtc is saying commuters get ready. caltran riders expect a lot of company. the ferries could be busy, too. car also be crowded, freeways, bridges. we spoke with one commuter who said even if you all these commuters, it will be awfully inconvenient. >> all the oakland staff takes the b.a.r.t. over and vice versa. we also work with the youth and the youth we employ work at the coliseum and they take b.a.r.t. >> ac transit is offering up buses, but it has a labor contract expiring on june 30th. union leaders sent a letter citing safety concerns if buses are used in the event of a strike. the mtc did authorize spending millions of dollars to try to help, $18.7 million for bus, $1.2 million for ferries and $100,000 to be spent for enforcement efforts. b.a.r.t. workers are asking riders to go ahead and call the board of directors and urge them to make a deal. they're going to be out here at the embarcadero station at 7:00 this morning to 8:30. they'll also be at city center in oakland for the afternoon commute. live in san francisco, christie smith, "today in the

alamena transportation, san francisco municipal agency, conser authority, and lngs tras pourtation, mtc, sanmatao, and the santa clara valley, transportation authority. we also needed to work with the agency to determine which classifications we would be serving in the market. and because of the variety of classifications and their unique, we usually survey two-thirds, and in this case we did 14 out of the 18. we did not look at the executive director. and we also worked with them to determine what types of benefits we would be surveying. we wanted to look at top monthly salary, of course and we also looked at the cost of benefits in each of these agencies towards retirement, the insurance as sufficient as medical, vision and life and employee assistance plan and any leaves that they offer. so this would be vacation, holiday, and any administrative leave which is sometimes offered to those in select classifications. so, after these variables were determined, we went and collected the data. we studied the classifications, the current classifications descriptions of the authority and got

to use in their transportation tool box and promote it to their parents. the service is part of the mtc 51 sweet of services and it functions very much the same way as the commuter website for finding carpool and van pool matches. s environment received a grant from the air district and the transportation to do outreach and education on this tool. and really to support safe routes and encourage parenting to form walking school buses or bike trains. so our grant cover two years and we just are finishing up our second year. outreach was provided to an a total of 44 schools. and between the first -- for the first year for the 22 schools, we he saw increases in commuting, so from fall 2011 to spring 2012 we saw an increase by 1.5 percent with carpool, point 3 for .3 for biking, transit went up by 5 percent and the vehicle went down by 1 percent. overall the registrations are growing up, there's 535 currently. and as more outreach is done, it will go up, so other parents can find other parents to pool it. next we're we're planning to keep up the momentum with fsud public elementary schools w
