railroad museum, century 21, the marina inn, and kay-hills came together to hold a toy drive. siouxlanders could come out to the railroad museum for a polar express themed photoshoot and donate a toy. the toys will go to the kids at the crittenton center, which is a local children's homeless shelter. their goal is to help as many kids as possible and say it's all about the community. this -- that'say one of the reasons why living history museums, museums in general, are so important. no matter what is happening in society, no matter what choices are being made within a legislature as far as what is going to be taught, living history museums, museums use the actual documentation to tell the story in the way that it needs to be told. as far as what i would suggest to try to get that information out there is to go to those museums, to go online -- we live in a wonderful time when we can connect to someone who is only on the other side of the desk all the way on the other side of the earth and two seconds by pressing a button. i don't know what the possibility is upbringing guest speakers into your classroom through technology in a way that gets that story out there. another thing i would suggest, you have a lot of people who have learned the history, the history has been passed down through storytelling, one of the ways to get those stories out there to get things told and have them come in and tell the story. remembering slavery is a wonderful publication to get. it
