i wanted the children to benefit from the things scouting brings, so i formed the muslim scout group,igious and cultural needs, which a normal scout group might not be able to do. of course any child from any faith is welcome tojoin of course any child from any faith is welcome to join these scouts. all scout groups welcome everybody. today, the children have been doing a nature badge. it's a standard scouting activity that also helps them learn about their faith. it tells the children we need to protect wildlife and care for the earth and its resources. islam tells us that we are custodians of this planet, it's not ours, so there's the link with islam but otherwise, the activity is just the same as any other group would run. shahid is a teacher and one of the proud parents glad to have this group. he never got the chance to be in the scouts and he didn't want his daughter to miss out. why were your parents reluctant for you to join the scouts? i think primarily, they didn't know anything about it. i think they felt it was something that perhaps muslims didn't do, so they didn't want
