myers and christmas valley? >> myers and christmas valley, the fires did move through both communities. many of the homes and everything are still protected in myers. christmas valley is doing good at this point. the fire has not really encroached that much on that area. kristen: ok. what about fallen leaf lake? i know there is a stamford sierra camp there and lots of homes. >> yes. that area has been under evacuation order. it is a really -- it is a very limited egress and access. but it is in good shape. it is not threatened immediately by the fire. kristen: and you talk about -- you have been there a long time and seen a lot of fires. the fact that these flames are so readily moving over the ridge, and then starting to come down the basin. what does that say about what is happening out there with the fuel, and is it unusual? >> it is unusual. it is unprecedented. a fire may be a decade ago, we would not be thinking it would make it to the basin. but this definitely has. it is very aggressive. the potential fo

myers sits below echo pass and echo summit and this is the way we all go and myers technically you relied on the outskirts of southlake tahoe and you see where the town is on there. you can see the satellite imprint of the fire and this is echo summit and a gap in the mountains. we are about to see the wind pick up, and they will be blowing flames from up there through the past down into this valley. right now, the situation and myers looks dire. if we look at the red flag warning, this goes into effect monday and tuesday. the fire took off today on its own but tomorrow the wind will pick up monday and tuesday and this will likely become a very big story over the course of the next few days. we will be tracking it and on top of it to make sure you are well informed. i know that is a very special place for a lot of us and maybe you have friends and family who lived there. we show you the cool down here 70s by the middle of the week for san jose and here is the cool down for the inland valleys of the east bay and we get you back down into the low 80s for concord, livermore, santa rosa and 7

highway 89, and behind us is myers.s once something without was a longshot has become a reality. this fire is indeed in the tahoe basin. no fire has ever crossed the sierra until this year. the dixie fire and now the caldor fire. take a look behind me. plenty of hotspots that are going to be in play. this is one of the other side of highway 89. hotspots again, a lot of times coming into being generated by embers. we have the parent fire that is roaring near highway 50. but once the winds kicked up, it kicks the embers up to a mile and sometimes even farther. you've got firefighters dealing with the fire into now, all of a sudden, they are dealing with spot fires well ahead of it. that has been the concern with this red flag warning. that is in effect until wednesday at 11:00 at night because of high winds. but during that timeframe, you do get a section of time where winds are very gusty. today for this area, it kicks in around 11:00 in the morning and is going to be in the forecast until around 6:00 this evening. with
